First day at ALDC LA (Part 3)

When we get back from the mall, we are all told to get our jazz shoes and meet Abby in Studio A to learn the group. 

"As you know, the group is a Jazz piece called 'The Ritz'. The Ritz is a posh restaurant so we have our guests- Kalani the lead, Nia and Kendall and our servers- Maddie, Mackenzie, Jojo and Brynn. Summer will learn the routine as a swing however hopefully you won't be needed." I listen to Abby then head to the back of the room while she puts them in formation.

The number is fun and sassy and very 1930s Charleston. I wish I could perform it however everyone except Maddie, Mackenzie and Nia have been on probation so I have to deal with it. After an hour, Abby says she wants to work on Maddie and Brynn's duet so the rest of us head to a ballet class. I grab my pointe shoes and pull on my soft shoes and head to Studio C. We work on sautés, echappes and plies. Especially landing your sautés and echappes. In a plie. And stretching your feet to the limit in the air. And getting higher still in the air. It's so hard to be a dancer- there are so many things to remember! Overall, it was a great class however my pointe shoes weren't needed. A good dancer always comes prepared! After, I pull on my joggers etc and go to pick up my bag when Maddie says I can leave it in the den. 

"See you later!" I call to Maddie Kendall and Kalani as they wave back. I hop into the car with moms and we pull away.

"Hey Mom, can I sleep over at Kendall's tonight?" I ask.

"Sure! I'm just happy you've made friends!" Mom replies, "Oh yeah, and we have to pick Nia up for dance on Wednesday as Holly has to work.".

"Cool" I say. I haven't talked to anyone except Maddie, Kalani and Kendall so I hope I can get to know her more. Speaking of which, the sleepover's gonna be awesome!".
