Another crack sounded through the cave. Deathbringer's body jerked in pain. Freeze had taken to using the whip in his daily tortures. Although it was small, the whip hurt like fire. The stinging of it felt like tiny fires being set off on his scales. Whip's have a small tip so they also can slide in between scales.
More stinging. Deathbringer wouldn't talk. He refused. The assassin would rather die than reveal anything about his Queen. He knew Freeze was planning something to capture his Glory, little did he know that she knew of his plan. The more Deathbringer was tortured, the more anger Freeze let out.
Sometimes, Freeze would vent to Deathbringer, thinking that he wouldn't survive to tell anyone. Deathbringer had reported everything to his Queen when she dreamvisited him. Now that she was prepared for any ambush, they were planning an attack. Deathbringer had tried to provide her with as much information of his location but couldn't say much. He had been unconscious for his journey.
Now, Deathbringer only wished to survive this place. He wanted to see his Queen one last time, face to face. Not through dreams. It was a lot to ask but it was all he wanted. Deathbringer wasn't sure all of them were going to make it out alive. If needed, Deathbringer would give his life to protect his Queen.
His only wish was for her to be alive and safe, with or without him. He could almost see it at times. A bright light coming towards him, calling him. There were several times when he almost when to it. Then he remembered Glory, his Queen and love. Deathbringer had to stay to see her to safety.
If he did pass in the coming battle, Deathbringer knew he could rely on her friends and family, the Dragonets of Destiny, to keep her safe and happy.
Sometimes it felt fake. Too unreal. Deathbringer, the best assassin, was underground somewhere, being held captive by an IceWing named Freeze. No, that didn't seem right. But it was. There were times when Deathbringer felt like giving up, giving into the light. It all felt to real, but fake.
As the whip cracked down again, Deathbringer looked up at the ceiling, seeing a bright light in the corner. Instead of giving in to the call, he turned away. He knew it was not his time yet, he had a dragon to get back to. And he would always find her.
