Ocean of Dreams

We both sat there in the still dusk. The sunset reflected off of the protective purple dome overhead. Pitch sat by the edge of the dome grazing as the night drew near.

My sleeping bag was warm, despite the fact that I had only been sitting on it for what seemed like two minutes. The little dragon was still huddled in the blanket on my lap. I found it very interesting to observe the creature.

"Sytre!"

My head shot up and banged up against Hydrinn's chin. She immediately slapped me over top of the head. "Fire!" she threw her arms up. I cocked my head in confusion.

"Yeah, what do you mean 'fire'?"

She dropped her fist on my head. "Warmth, light. Fire!" she yelled.

"Thanks for the definition." I grumbled as I rubbed my head.

She stomped away in search of a stick and possible tinder.  I wouldn't worry about it at the time.  That's only going to attract spiders and-

My train of thought took a sharp turn.  Mobs.  My palms got sweaty and I got a little shaky.  Sure, we have the force field up, but the mobs will still be there in the morning; not including the zombies and skeletons, but still.

My head buzzed and I started to lose myself to the End Power until I looked down at the little beast.  Its royal blue eyes calming me like waves over the sea.  It was as if there were waves crashing up against the edges of the irises, longing to break free from the confined area.

I must have let my imagination get the best of me for I saw waves licking up against the confinement of the deep blue eyes.  I looked closer and to my surprise, its irises had what looked like waves moving within them.

"I guess you have the ocean raging inside you, little buddy.  Just like how us Enders have fire rushing through our veins." I moved my hand out to touch its head.  Its frills flattened down its neck and back, allowing me to touch the still soft scales.

I slowly lay myself down on my back with the dragon on my chest.  I rested my head on my arms as I watched the creature watching me.

I made a mental note of each detail.  Every curve and edge, nook and cranny.  How its eyes seemed to swallow me whole.  How the little stubs poking out of it's nose and around the eyes were going to be spines and horns.  Every color, each scale, the size of the wings.

I was so lost in fascination that I didn't realize that my eyes were becoming heavy.  I guess it's fair to say that I have already attached myself to the dragon.  I promised myself I wouldn't, but I guess some promises aren't worth keeping.

I was floating in the depths of the ocean.  The fish were floating around me as I watched the bubbles float to the surface.  I looked up and realized that I was sinking further down into the dark abyss.  I reached out to the last visible ray of refracted light before I was floating in complete darkness.

I hugged myself as it started to become cold.  I looked back up in hopes of seeing the sunlight, but all I could see was darkness.  I reached up to see if I could grab something.  I gasped as I saw my hands.  They weren't hands; they were long, black talons.  I looked down at my feet to see that they were the same.

I blinked and my vision was enhanced.  I could see the night in a purple tint.  I looked around and a purple dome caught my eye.  I started running toward it.  End particles started to fill my vision until it was blinding.

I don't remember closing my eyes, but they opened and I was inside the dome.  I was standing over my sleeping figure.  I wanted to return to my body when I saw Hydrinn sitting on a log staring at the baby dragon.  I didn't realize that she was interested in the baby dragon.  I wanted to sit next to her to watch too when I realize that her eyes were focused on something different.

I knelt beside her and followed her eyes.  She wasn't looking at the dragon.  She was looking at me.  Why would she be looking at me?  She hates me!

I shook my head and looked at her face.  It was hard to read her expression.  It was like contentment mixed with at tinge of - what is it?- Love, perhaps?  That can't be right.  A creature as horrible as her isn't capable of something as mushy-gushy like love.  Right?

I stood up and realized that I was beginning to return to my original human form.  I slowly walked up to my still body.  I didn't really want to go back, but what else is there to explore?  Hydrinn's mind, maybe?  I looked back at my sleeping body and dove back into the ocean of dreams.

Sytre is much stronger and powerful than we first expected.  I'm glad we chose him and not his sister.

Yes, sir.

Just wait, young Sytre.  You're time will come...soon...and you'll be ready.
