Dry Rain

I jerked awake and the sound of rushing water left my ears. The sun still wasn't up and Hydrinn was still in the same spot she was in before. It's strange, really. She was watching me while I slept. I suppose I could go back to 'Dream Walking', as I call it, but right now I just want to watch the sunrise.

The little dragon resting on my chest didn't seem as small as he once was. He'd grown overnight! How astounding! I assume the dragon is a male considering the physical features. The large frills and decently large nasal horn. And not to mention the lower parts.

It's almost as if it read my thoughts because it opened its eyes and looked at me. Its eyes were pulling me back into the ocean like a riptide. I was sinking into those blue eyes. The ebb and flow of the waves within the navy depths rippled off of the fish and coral.

It opened its jaws, revealing tiny sharp teeth, and yawned as its wings stretched. I felt his legs move as he tried to stand up. I sat up a little and moved my hands out to help him up. The frills on his neck flexed as my hand caught his eye.

I didn't know if he felt threatened or curious, but I continued to move my hand forward. My fingers brushed against his still-soft scales as I lifted him a little. His legs stretched out to support him on my lap and I set him down.

His legs gave out beneath him, but I caught him before he fell. I tried the same method of teaching him how to stand correctly except this time I still supported him.

He put all of his weight down on his feet and wriggled his tail. I slowly moved my hands away from his sides allowing him to stand on his own. Though, his legs wobbled he stood very well.

He started to move his foot forward, stretching out his short claws, in attempts to walk. I moved my leg out of the way so he could walk in the grass. I leaned forward and moved my hands by his sides so he wouldn't fall. He took one step forward and stopped to regain balance. He then took another and did the same.

He took maybe five more steps and got tired. I picked him back up and set him on the blanket.

I stood up and walked over to the still-sleeping Pitch to take a slice of bread out of the saddle bag. The dragon seemed to whine as I reached into the bag.

"You hungry, boy?" I asked. "Maybe we have a bit of chicken or something..." I muttered as I reached further into the bag.

"Here," I walked over to him and held out a small piece of raw chicken. He was cautious as he stretched his neck forward. His eyes met mine and he immediately jerked forward; Jaws locked on the soft meat which he quickly gulped down.

I turned around and went to the bag to grab my dark blue zip-up hoodie and jeans. It was at that moment that I remembered that the force field was still up.

I drew my black tee shirt over my head, exposing my pale chest to the crisp morning air. I replaced it with my light gray tee shirt and zipped up my dark blue hoodie over it. The morning sun reflected off of the purple dome as it rose. My Ender Pearl necklace reflected the sunlight with a teal sheen. I grasped it and felt my fingers tingle. Whenever I touch it the End Power transfers from it to me or vise-versa.

Something stirred behind me and I turned around to see Hydrinn rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

"Mornin'."

Hydrinn ignored my greeting. The dragon whined as it saw Hydrinn get up. I walked over to it and sat down next to it. I reached my arms out to pick it up, but he backed away and tried to stand up. I stood back up and looked behind me as I took a step. The little beast hobbled behind me as I walked toward the purple dome.

I reached my arm out to touch it, but my fingers slipped through the purple veil and to the outside world. I hesitated to walk out. I was exposed to anything that could attack me, but that's highly unlikely at this point; It's too bright.
