The raindrops seemed to hang in the air as we sat in the damp forest. It's quite obvious that Hydrinn isn't happy. She made a promise so she can't say anything negative. It's kind of eerie that it's so quiet. At home she'd be yelling at me or me at her.
I lay back on the damp log and think about home. That dark cloud of fear still lingers over my little world. What if we don't make it back? What would happen if one of the guards found us?
I looked around me to make sure that no Endermen were around. No glowing purple eyes in sight.
The little dragon hobbled around the edge of the force field, nipping at every raindrop he could. The way that the frills on his back flex whenever he hears a sound makes me smile. He's so curious, but he stays close by. He's started to make clicking sounds at everything that moves. It's almost like he's trying to communicate. I guess that's a logical explanation.
I stood up and looked at the treetops. The force field didn't disturb the trees, but the rain still fell through. It's weird, though. As soon as it slips past the dome it slows down and floats like snow. It still hits the ground with a splash, though.
"Don't even think about going out." Hydrinn hissed. I turned my head and smiled. "I just want to get a view of the lake." I put my hands in my damp sweatshirt pockets.
"No. Not without me!" Hydrinn stood up and put up her black hood. The purple eyes on the hood seemed to look at the dragon. It's almost like mom's, but it doesn't have the silver check marks on the sleeves or Enderman face on the front. Instead it has an Ender Pearl printed on the back.
She's like the perfect mix between my mom and dad. My mom's shaggy silver hair mixed with my dad's spiky brown makes her pale silvery brown wavy hair. The mix between dad's pale indigo eyes and mom's deep fiery purple make her icy lavender. And all the while wearing the pale skin that we all share. The only thing that is her own is that attitude.
Apparently I look like my dad, but I disagree. My dad has dark brown spiky hair. I have wispy black hair. He has indigo eyes. I have teal, which is quite rare among Enders and Endermen alike. I'm different than most Enders, but it's not that bad being an oddball.
I held the little beast in my arm as we walked out of the forest. Hydrinn clutched onto the Obsidian Ender Blade as if her life was on the line. The dragon cooed whenever I spoke to Hydrinn. It's trying to mimic me, I think.
"Are you sure you don't want to go back?" Hydrinn shivered as the wind blew. The rain had died down so we weren't getting completely soaked.
"I just want to see what's around us. Then we can go back." the dragon echoed after me in its reptilian language.
"That thing creeps me out." Hydrinn mumbled as she glared at him.
"He didn't do anything to you." I snapped. "Besides, he isn't doing any harm. He's just a little baby. Leave him be." Hydrinn mocked me in a higher pitch, but I didn't do anything about it. That's called being the better person.
I could see the shoreline up ahead and sped up a bit. The ground level got higher as we neared the sandy beach. The lake was huge! We were just at a bay or lagoon or something.
As soon as the dragon saw the water his blue eyes widened. He started squirming around to get out of my hands.
"What's up, boy?"
All of the sudden he leaped out of my arms and sped out to the lake. I ran up to him, panic fueling me. Once I reached the edge of the water I was surprised. The dragon was splashing around in the water. He was having a grand old time just playing around. He'd jump into the small waves and splash the water with his tail. I bet he'll be able to swim when he gets older.
We walked back into the dome as the sun started to set. Pitch lay at the edge of the force field taking a nap. His ears perked up as we walked in. The little dragon ran up to Pitch and started sniffing him, all the while trying to communicate.
I walked over to the log I was sitting on before we left and opened my bag. I won't need to feed the dragon because he caught some fish while we were out by the lake. I took out a loaf of bread and ripped off a piece to eat.
My clothes were soaked and I was shivering. I'm pretty sure Hydrinn is doing the same. I grabbed my pajamas, my black tee shirt and gray sweatpants, and walked behind a tree to change. I hung my wet clothes on the lowest branch that I could reach.
"Did you, uh...have fun?" Hydrinn asked awkwardly, gesturing to the playful dragon. "Uh, yeah. Sure." I responded. The dragon echoed back, making human-like sounds. He hobbled over to my and I bent over to pick him up.
"Uft! You're gettin' big aren't ya, boy?" I heaved as I picked him up. "I guess dragons grow fast, huh."
Hydrinn took her shoes off. "Yeah. He grew, like, six inches since this morning." She leaned back on her arms as she sat on the stump.
"Not saying that I'm a dragon expert, but," I flipped my bangs out of my eyes. "I'm pretty sure that they grow pretty fast at first, then slow down a bit until they hit adulthood." I patted the dragon's head as it flopped onto my lap. His throat started to vibrate like a cat when it's purring. "If you ask me, I think they'd make good house pets."
"Yeah, until they're giant beasts taking over the world!" Hydrinn argued. "You see, the Ender Dragon left this egg behind. It's quite possible that this is his heir. We don't know! And we won't until it reaches adulthood!" Hydrinn yelled.
The dragon's tail twitched in agitation. I could tell he didn't like Hydrinn's attitude towards him.
"I'm sorry. I though I heard a tinge of fear." I smirked. "It sounds to me like you're afraid of him."
"I am! We don't know what it's capable of!"
"He! We don't know what he's capable of!"
"Oh! I'm sorry. He's not a pet, Sytre! Open your eyes! This is the spawn of the evil Ender Dragon. Y'know, the one that killed our grandparents, the rulers of the End, and took our home by force! Do you really want to go through that again?" Hydrinn stood up and screamed at me, pointing at the dragon.
"Hey! We made a deal!" my head started buzzing and my pulse quickened. I grasped the Enderpearl strung onto my necklace. My eyes started to glow a bright teal along with the Enderpearl. I took a deep breath and the End Power slowly subsided.
"W-we," I swallowed. "We made a deal." I exhaled as I pointed at her. Her lavender eyes were filled to the brim with fear. She clutched onto the edges of the stump for security.
The dragon whimpered from behind the log. I turned around and knelt down in front of him.
"Hey, buddy. Come here. It's okay." I cajoled. He backed away at first, but slowly walked forward to sniff my hand. He then stepped onto my lap and I lifted him into my arms.
"I'm sorry..." I apologized. Hydrinn put out her hand and interrupted me. "No, no. I'm sorry. I should've kept my word. I wont fight." she sighed. "No matter how hard it is not to." she smirked.
I nodded. "Thanks." Hydrinn nodded back. "C'mon, let's get some sleep."
He's getting bigger...and stronger.
Are you sure we don't need the girl? She's just as-
No. Just Sytre. He's the one, I'm sure of it.
