You didn't knew why you felt this way, you always questioned yourself how could you let yourself undergo to loath your infatuation and devotion to the snake pillar. You knew too well that Mitsuri got his interest but part of you can't accept that even still the other part of you got over it with all possible haste

You didn't undertood how and why couldn't he feel the same way to you.
You knew Obanai more than anyone else, you have seen whats behind his mask

"You still look lovely!"

You commented that day, you listen to his sorrowful tales before he became a pillar. You followed him whenever he goes, no matter how far, you'll go as far as also being his tsugoko just to be by his side.
Don't get him wrong, he appreciates Y/N as a great loyal friend he always had by his side, though he never had ever thought of you more than that during the time you still loved him

"Iguro-san, Iguro-san, wake up" his eyes we're at blur while his head was a bit foggy due to heavy injuries he had taken during the fearsome battle with Muzan. When his sight became clear as day, he sees nothing but a really worried look of the person he valued so much

Not only that you we're best friends with Iguro but you we're also great friends with Mitsuri.
At first, you decided to not interfere in their relationship, you weren't the type to sabotage someones insight towards your best friend for your beneficial.

Notwithstanding the fact you'd also like to get Iguros heart, you chose to assist him towards the road of getting out of the friendzone.
Which was probably the same road you should had gone too and yet you just gave him a map to guide him through it.

You gave him details of Mitsuris favorite flower, color and places and such, even helping him to subtlety compliment or get physical contact with his darling. It was painful to watch, as you'd always clench your hands to your chest where your heart was aching. You didn't knew what to do, "should I tell him before the fight with Muzan or shall I wait..

He hugged Mitsuri tightly around his arms, as he was doing so he noticed the Rock Pillar, Gyomei, kneeling down, his hands in its usual praying manner, his eyes we're in tears.

This was normal for Obanai to see him like this but something tells him he wasn't just crying like he always used to.

Slowly, Mitsuri pulled out of the hug, pushing Obanai slightly and away from him and started sobbing, obviously very upset about something
"I'm sorry.. I'm really sorry Iguro-san.. I couldn't do anything.." She begun murmuring and apologizing to the man infront of him who had no piece of information to why she was crying so quitely, usually she has a very loud and emotionam cries
She was scared to find out what happened to his dear friend.

Just thinking about it makes her depressed

"You know.. I find it heartily peculiar that you like Mitsuri of all people"

"Why's that?"

"Well, both of you are polar opposites and second, you're the one whos actually taken a liking to the other.. I usually think that those who were more outgoing and cheerful will get a liking to the serious ones"

"Doesn't she likes marriage? Would you consider marrying her?"

"Of c-course! That is.. if I didn't have a filthy blood.."

"Don't be so on edge alright? It's time for you to create a new status for your name and your will be family"

He went silent for a moment

"Would you put some regards into marriage?" He asked

"You're still a young woman, Y/N, you did great protecting us but it seems it's time for you to rest"Gyomei exclaimed, That caught Iguros attention and came ranning towards his best mate who was laying down on the floor, expressionless, cold and lifeless

"Y/N.." He couldn't help but cry his heart out.. his best friend just died before him, she was his tsugoko, she was suppose to be a hashira. She had gone through so much, he weep and weep holding his platonic soulmate.. or maybe more than that.
In just after a minute, his eyes looked tired and swollen due to his heavy cries.

The rest decided to talk to the snake pillar and let him be alone as he would not listen to anyone under his condition

You only thought that he would never think of you than a friend but you we're completely mistaken.
It had been occupying his mind eversince the day he finally talked about his life, you didn't judge, you didn't looked surprised.
You only looked calm and patient and thats why he loved you so much
You never insisted him about his mask, you knew Iguro would tell you someday and yet you we're patient enough to finally hear his tragic story.

He had many doubts if he really do wanted Mitsuri or not.. 'Cause you we're there with him, almost all his life consist of you bonding and sharing memories together
It just so happens that he had the same doubt like yours

'What if he/she only thinks of me

He only told himself that he would tell you about his passionate feelings that he has been in denial with all his life

Sadly, neither of you found out of each others love for each other.
Bear in mind that the one has passed on while the other lives on,
Their relationship had no progression and...
