3:00 P.M ~ Afternoon

It was rather windy as the Imp slept on his tree stump. He had been sleeping for such a long time, longer than he could remember.Had he been sleeping for minutes?Hours?Days? He'd lost his ability to remember at this point.Wortox got up slowly and rubbed his belly slowly. He was feeling famished and thought of looking for food, but decided to wait till later. The imp looked around for his flute that he liked to play. The instrument was probably made out of bamboo or some other hard plant substance, all Wortox could remember was that he received the flute from Wendy as a gift.He began to play, and a heavenly melody came out.It was beautiful. As Wortox played,a pair of yellow birds came and landed on his head, next to his small horns. They began to chirp to the melody, adding to the heavenly music.Wortox kept playing and playing, without much care in the world.

It was than a noise that caught him off guard and made him stop playing.A noise from a bush perhaps? The imp thought to himself as he put his flute down next to him.He shooed his musical friends away and looked around. The bushes moved more in front of Wortox.Something was coming. The imp slowly backed off into a nearby shrub himself. It was than that he heard voices coming from where he was a few seconds ago.He slowly retreated from his leafy hiding spot and slipped behind a tree to get more bearings. There they were.Who were they?People.A small group of 3 kids had come to investigate the musical noises. One of the kids,a brown haired girl picked up the flute and examined it."It's a flute guys."She said."A weird looking flute it must be.."A boy with glasses said."Yeah.We have long flutes. This one is really different."The other boy said. The brown haired girl looked in Wortox's direction and the Imp slipped fully behind the tree.He heard whispers on the other side."Hello? We know you're there. Can you come out?We won't hurt you!"The brown haired girl said as she heald the flute.Wortox really wanted to get his flute back, but he slowly felt the urge to trust these people that he'd never seen before. He looked out from his hiding spot and made eye contact with the girl. The Imp took a deep breath in a reassured himself before approaching the kids. The girl heald out the flute for Wortox, and he willingly took it back."Thank you..little girl..and friends."Wortox said, being calm as he could. The boy turned around and saw a car pull up."We'll see you tomorrow Beverly."The boy said as he adjusted his glasses. He started to walk away with his sister. The siblings got into the car and waved at their friend before leaving.Wortox sat on the tree stump. He was now alone with this girl and he didn't know what to do.She sat down on her backpack in front of Wortox. The two made awkward eye contact for some time until she stood up.She put her hand out to the Imp,hoping he'd shake it."My name's Beverley, nice to meet you!"She said with a smile on her face."My name is Wortox..and pardon me if I don't shake your hand.."The Imp said, trying not to be rude.Beverly put her hand down and sat down on her bag again. She nodded, affirming his judgement."Is there a reason why I can't shake your hand mister Wortox?"The Imp paused at the name she'd given him."You see,I have a curse..I can't risk touching others without taking their soul.It is quite important to not touch my hands.."Wortox explained.Beverley was feeling bad for the little Imp,as shown by her facial expressions."I'm sorry about your curse..is there a way for me to help you?"She asked.Wortox shook his head slowly."I doubt anything will help me."Wortox said as he looked at his paw, which turned red.Uh oh.I'm getting hungry again. The Imp thought. He looked around curiously than looked back at the girl."You wouldn't perhaps have some food on you, would you?"He asked as his stomach began to growl."I have some at my house!I can take you there if you want."She said.Hearing the word house made Wortox feel queasy inside, remembering that mean pigs used to live in houses as well and would come out to attack the poor Imp and his spider friend Webber. He got up and waited to follow the girl. She also got up and picked up her backpack and put it on.She walked through the clearing where she and her friends came from.Wortox followed her.Around 30 minutes later. Her house was rather interesting to Wortox."A very cozy looking home!"Wortox said to the girl as she walked on the side of her house."I don't want my parents to see you,at least not yet.So we'll use the back door."Beverly said as she opened the door and invited the Imp inside. He looked around, being fascinated at every little homey detail."You can stay in the guest room upstairs. It's next to my room and nobody uses it,and it also has a secret closet!"She said as she lead Wortox upstairs and into her room. The Imp walked around her room slowly and noticed paper on a desk."You use papyrus?"Wortox asked.Beverley looked at him confused."Wortox,I don't really know what that is..but that's called paper.I think my mom might uses papyrus when she writes."She replied. It made Wortox smile a bit. Some of the things found in the constant were found here,in this place. The girl put her bag down and sat on her bed."So Wortox, what are you?A deer?"She asked as she looked at him."Hyuyuyu!"He laughed at her comment. His laugh made her laugh."I am an Imp!And you are a mortal..just like my friends!"He continued."Tell me about yourself, and I'll tell you about me!"Beverley said.Wortox nodded."I do enjoy a good prank.Do you enjoy pranks?"He asked the girl, awaiting her response."Pranks? They're okay.I do not do them much."She replied."What's your favorite food?Mine is macaroni."Beverley said."Considering is mortal food,I really enjoy cooked chicken."Wortox replied as he stomach grumbled for food again.Beverley heard it this time and stood up."I forgot you were hungry..I'll make you some food."She said as she got off of her bed and left the room. The Imp looked out of the bedroom window. It looked like the sun was slowly going down.Did Wortox still need to fear the creatures of the night? What about the nightmare creatures that came when one went insane?Wortox didn't want to think about the bad things. All he wanted to think about was his new friend,Beverley.A few minutes later, she came back with a plate, and on top was a sandwich.Beverley handed the food to Wortox."My my,what's this?"Wortox asked."That my friend is a classic ham sandwich.I like to make them as snacks."She replied.Wortox nodded and took a bite and realised it was still mortal food, and it didn't fill his tummy much.He ate it anyways,it was much better than starving to his demise. He did however, have a craving for a soul, sadly. The curse was getting the better of him. After finishing the snack food,Wortox disposed of the plate and fell asleep on the floor. His friend noticed, and covered him with a blanket before sitting back on her bed,and turning her phone on.It was going to be a long nap for the Imp.
