Chapter 5-One's Sanity Can Be Their Downfall

Wortox had been lying there for quite some time now.How long had the movie been playing?He didn't bother to pay much attention.He was watching over his mortal friends as they layed on the floor below him. Wortox noticed that Bev started to look over at him.He put his eyes back on the screen.The girl looked back at her friends."I wonder if Wortox is  okay..."She said as she whispered to Judy and Nick."Maybe he's been going through some things and he doesn't want us to worry about him."Nick whispered back to her. Bev shook her head.She was in disbelief."Nah,we've known this fuzzy goofball for a few days,and I don't think he'd do something like that.But I can't be so sure..."Bev said as she looked over at Judy,who was eating popcorn.She cleared her throat,gaining Judy's attention."Oh yeah,I totally agree.He would let us know if something was wrong with him right?That what we all do when we're feeling weird or something."The girl said as she pinned her attention back on her snack."I'll just ask him."Bev said as she got up and turned around. Wortox was no longer sitting in the chair.The girl looked around quickly and saw him step into the kitchen slowly.She got up and followed the Imp.Turning the corner,she stood there and watched him slowly walk past the table."W-wortox?"she called to him softly.He stopped suddenly,and turned around to face her.It was quite creepy and mysterious,as Bev could feel chills go down her spine."Are you okay buddy?You seem kinda...off."She continued. Wortox approached her and stopped only a few feet away."I'm fine,I assure you.No need to be worried.."Worotx said as he started to nod back and forth slowly.The Imp was lying,and he was far from fine.In fact,he was going insane.It was a common thing in The Constant,but the Imp was unaware that it could happen here."Please Wortox,don't lie to me buddy.I just wanna know what's wrong with you!'Bev said as she came all the way around the corner. Wortox looked at her and realized that lying wasn't going to help his mental state.He needed help,and he needed to trust his friend to help him get it.The Imp sighed and looked at Bev again after closing his eyes for a few seconds."I'm just going insane is all.I need to pick some flowers is all,no big deal hyuyuyu."Wortox said,trying to be as firm as possible. Beverely nodded."I'll help you get some in the morning okay?Will you be okay until then?"She asked,hoping for the best answer from her Impy friend.He nodded,and she smiled."Let's just head to bed early.I think that'll be best for all of us."She continued."Alright,alright.Tell the others as well."Wortox said as he went back into the living room and went upstairs.As he traversed the stairs,he could hear Bev tell her friends to wrap up the movie. Wortox trotted into the guest bedroom,leaving the door open so that Bev could follow him inside.She came in a while later,making sure her other friends were good to go for the night. Wortox climbed onto the bed and looked at the girl."I'll be finer than mortals on Christmas day."Worotx said.Bev smiled."I'll take your word for it,you goofball."She said as she touched one of his horns."Have a good night buddy."She said as she left the room,closing the door behind her.It was now quiet,no sounds to be heard.Wortox laid back and closed his eyes multiple times.Upon opening them one time,a dark creature appeared."Uh oh."Wortox said.According to The Constant,it appeared to be what the survivors called a Crawling Horror. Wortox knew that these guys were pretty dangerous,even if they are slow.Wortox got up and crawled across the bed in an attempt to touch the monster.It moved away from him,but he felt his paw go straight through it's body."Good,Squishy thing isn't real yet.Hyuyuyu."The Imp laughed and crawled back to his sleeping spot.He was going to be okay.For now.

The next morning,Wortox woke up and felt his head again.He was still insane,so nothing had changed.He got up and out of bed.After yawning,he left the bedroom and went downstairs.He saw Beverely,Nick,and Judy all sitting at the kitchen table eating breakfast.The Television was also on."Good morning Wortox."Nick said as he got up an put his bowl in the sink."Greetings nerdy one."Wortox replied as he scratched his side."I just wanted to let you know that these glasses work really good,even though they smell like fish and reeds."Nick said approvingly.The Imp smiled."How appropriate,hyuyuyu. I'm glad you like them."The Imp said.He joined the two girls at the table."Hey there Wortox.'Judy said."Good morning sleepy head."Beverely said as she finished her bowl."Would you like any by chance?"Judy asked.The Imp looked into the bowl from afar and saw the food."I am fine.I do not eat much food anyways."He stated.Judy nodded and went back to eating. Wortox went over to front door and looked at it."Are you wanting to pick flowers so soon?"Bev asked. Wortox looked around to see how insane he was."Not now,but we should go soon."The Imp replied as he stopped examining the door and went to go take a seat."Do you mortals like stories?"Wortox asked."Depends on the stories fluffy.What'd you got to share with us?"Judy said. Wortox smiled."Stories of The Constant,is what I have to share with you all.They come from my friends that I survived with."The Imp continued."Well go ahead and share!Afterwards,we can go get the flowers."Beverely said.The Imp cleared his throat and began.

"If I can remember,it was around day 5.I hadn't been introduced to everyone yet,but I knew most of the mortals and monsters that I was to reside with.I remember that I was coming back from a fishing trip with this man named Warly. He likes to cook.I was helping him store fish when I saw this girl in the distance.Her name was Wendy by the way.I knew for a fact that she didn't know my name yet,and it was my chance to make myself known."The Imp stopped his story for a bit."You all know I like a good laugh,and a good prank as well.I decided to greet this girl with the scare of a lifetime!Hyuyuyu.I frolicked my way over to her in a sneaky fashion.It was in a nearby bush I hid,waiting for her to walk by.To her luck,she happened to walk right next to me.It was than I jumped out and scared her,barring teeth and claws,scaring her right out of her shoes!It was so funny I began to laugh,until she pulled out a spear in fright and jumped forward.I lifted my paw and got out of the way,just in time.Till this day,she still gets scared of me and it's amusing every time.

The three children clapped."That was a pretty good story,hands down Wortox."Judy said.Nick and Beverely agreed."Shall we go get those flowers now?"Wortox asked."Oh yeah!Let's go get those for you.Beverley grabbed the house keys and departed with the Imp and her friends.
