Chapter 7-A Weakened Soul

The next day...

Beverley woke up and rubbed her eyes.She looked around a bit and saw Nick and Judy nearby.They seemed to be inside some type of tent.The girl yawned, and crawled out of the tent.Outside stood a man, who was sitting on a tree log with a lantern nearby."Oh hello."Beverley said.The man turned around to face the girl."Oh, one of you are finally awake.My name's Wilson.I was told by Wortox to watch over you and your friends for the night."He said, as he turned his lantern off."Ah.Well, why didn't he just do it himself? "Bev asked.Wilson shrugged." I don't really know.He just seemed pretty busy."Wilson replied. Suddenly Beverley felt her heart.It was hurting for some reason.She let out a little grunt of pain."Hey.. are you okay?Do you need anything?"Wilson asked."No, no.. I'm fine, I'm sure.. "Beverley replied." I'll let Wickerbottom take a look at you.She reads a lot of books, so she might be able to help you out if you tell her what's wrong."The guy said, as he picked up the lantern and began to walk around the base.After some time, Nick and Judy woke up and sat down with Beverley."Doin alright Bev? "Just asked as she stretched her legs in the grass.Her friend nodded." You're holding your chest.. does your heart hurt?Having trouble breathing?"Nick asked as he inspected his friend."Yeah.. my heart just hurts.. breathing is a little tricky too.."Bev said as she let herself go."You don't think it's Wortox, do you?"Judy asked as she looked around for the Imp."I'm hoping it's not.. he's a really good friend.."Beverley said as she got up off the ground."Should we head home?I'm pretty sure your parents are worried sick about us!"Nick stressed."Calm down bro, her parents are pretty laid back honestly.They know she's in good hands and don't have to worry.It would be a good idea to head back though. "Judy said as she rose to her feet." Than let's head back..If wortox notices that we're gone, he'll at least know where we went, right?"Nick said."Y-yeah.. he should.Let's go."Beverley said as she also got up to lead the group.The three went for the exit and Wert and Webber came over."Leaving so soon, florp?"Wert asked as she looked at the three."Yeah, we've gotta get home, but I'll remember to bring you some books alright?"Bev said to the merm.They both smiled."Be safe out there friends, and watch over Wortox if he comes with you as well.We get very worried for him!"Webber said."We will, you both take care."Nick said as he adjusted his new glasses.Afterwards, the three took off.As the three walked,Nick and Judy noticed something about Beverley.She was holding her heart again, and she was breathing way harder than usual."Bev, if you aren't alright, shouldn't you tell us?"Nick stammered.He was very worried about his friend."Yeah.. I'm alright.. don't worry about me too much-"Beverly said as she suddenly fell to the ground.Nick and Judy ran over to her.The fallen girl seemed to be out of breath suddenly.. her legs seemed to be giving out too.It was hard to even try to get up."B-b-beverley!!"Nick said."This isn't good, you aren't okay at all.. we need to get you home.. get you to a hospital.."Nick continued as he pulled out his phone.Just tried to stay calm."Calm down Nick!I agree that getting me home is a good idea.. but all the way to a hospital from there?It's too far.. it'd be too much of a hassle.."Bev said as her two friends helped to her feet."We'll figure it out when we get back.."She continued as the three kept moving.After around 20 minutes, the three arrived back at the house.They hustled up to Beverley's bedroom.Bev sat on her bed, and Nick sat at her bedside.Judy tried staying calm."Alright Bev, I'll be here to get anything you need.Sound good?"Nick asked."Yeah, that sounds good.. "Beverley said as she looked over at Judy." Now I wonder where Wortox is.. he would know what's going on.. "She said, looking agitated."You think so?" Nick asked.
"P-probably.." Judy stuttered.A bit more time passed.Judy was pacing around the room until she stopped to look at a clock on the wall.It was 7:25 p.m."Its still light outside.. where is he-"Judy said as her words were suddenly interrupted by a whooshing sound.Wortix appeared through the room's ceiling,landing right next to Judy."Is everything alright..?The Imp asked."Where have you been mister?We've been waiting for you to show up.. Beverley's not doing too  good."Judy said.The Imp quickly frowned."I kinda figured.. that's why I am here.."He said as he slowly walked over to his friend's bedside where Nick was."Beverley...?Are you alright..?"Wortox asked."I'm.. feeling a little weird.. I guess you could say.. my heart really hurts though.."The girl said slowly.The Imp nodded."Just as I thought.. I've caused this Beverley.I'm sorry.."Wortox said sadly.He knew this situation wasn't very good, but he had to do something about it."So Wortox, do you plan to explain what's going on?We are really worried..and we just wanna know what's going on.."Nick said as he looked over at Beverley."I guess.. right now it's the least I could do."Wortox said.He was breathing pretty heavily."Beverley's soul is hurting slowly.She's okay for now.. but over time.. it'll get worse and worse.It seems that right now, it's just her heart that's hurting.I can inform you on what's to come later on.. "The Imp said.His voice was really shaky, Beverley could tell that he fast feeling scared and worried."It's alright Wortox.. I'm sure we'll figure this out.We have each other.Is there a cure..?" Beverley asked."Oh yes.. I can make one.. it may take a long time though or we might have at base.. so I can try to look for you."Wortox said.Nick smiled."That's good.. maybe everything will be okay now.. we just have to wait."Nick said."Good!That's really good.. "Judy muttered."Let's try to get some sleep everyone."She continued as she looked out Bev's window."Good idea..let's all get some well deserved rest.. " Nick said as he left the room slowly with his sister.Wortox stayed behind.Beverley was already falling asleep.The Imp didn't want to leave her, he wanted to make sure she's was okay.Wortox left the room and pulled a chair back inside the girl's room and sat on it."I'll watch over you Bev.It's probably for the best now.. "He said.Beverley yawned."Alright Wortox.. goodnight..I'm sure you can figure this out for me.. even though I'm hurt, you're a good friend.." Beverley said as she finally went to sleep.Wortox smiled, but only for a little bit.He frowned a small while after.He knew that he had to safe her life.
