Daniel swings himself out of bed just as the door opens. A lady accompanies Reva, obviously of a higher rank for Reva nervously glances at her and looks considerably less confident.
"Round up!" She calls for attention. The men and woman turn to see and straighten their posture. "Daniel Adams?"
"Yes?"
"You were taken in last night, correct?"
"Yes, I was, but why?" He crosses his arms and looks through her wire-thin glasses, into her cold grey eyes.
"You are part of this month's Extraction. You were chosen to be extracted from your time-stream and have the history from your era removed and collected. The Extraction is the simplest form of obtaining history. Before we get started I have a few questions for you. If you'd follow me?" She gestures out the door. All the men and woman stare as he walks along behind her and Reva.
"What's your name?" Daniel asks. "If you know mine, you think it not fair that I also should also have yours?"
"Sure, whatever, I'm Niyan."
"Hey, Niyan, first time on the job and all, how much involvement do I get in the Extraction process?" Reva nudges her and grins hopefully.
"30%, you will mainly be overseeing the questioning, give minimal input and suggestions and observe the Extraction procedure."
"I see," she tilts her head down and stares at the floor for a while, until they reach the elevator. They take him to a building below the floating road, separate from the Link.
"Anything connected to the Link is under it's laws and judicial system. When a building is detached, it is free to do as it may." Niyan explains to Reva.
"Everyone agrees and accepts the Extraction though. Why would it need to be separate?"
She stops the hover car inside, on a circular white landing pad and folds her arms. "You'll see"
