chapter 14: Mafia background

Dino POV

I tell her that the mafia family that used to own this hotel is called Unionists. Their motto is " We unite to take over." but sadly their 36th boss died before he is married so nobody to take over his place. Moreover, with the last fight, they have lost more than 3/4 of their men. The remaining ones were all injured and not able to put out a proper fight even after they have recovered so this family have no choice but to disband.

Why would the hotel management still continue to welcome mafia members even it is no longer belongs to Unionists? It is because they are afraid of us and know every mafia family status. Therefore, who dares to mess with the mafia?

Seeing Yuki chan slowly digest this piece of information, " Since I have answer you a question..would you answer mine?" I looked at her and say playfully..she goes silent for a moment.

Wait, did I say something wrong? I mean did I press the wrong button or something?

" Sure, you can.." she smiled. I feel relief..because she is fine with it or else the situation would be so awkward. I asked her why will she dress up as a guy. She is thinking while eating her dinner..

" Ermm...I dressed up as a guy because my friend says that I won't be taken advantage of easily." she continue to eat. Wont be taken advantage of? Perhaps it is right because girls are more easily bullied or look down upon especially in the mafia.

Yukiko POV

So this hotel used to be a mafia territory..that's why it explains about all the special treatments that we are receiving. But the mafia is related to the rainbow. Does that mean Sawada and the rest are mafia as well? I thought they are just rainbow guardians..deciding to find out more, I continue to ask Dino san. " What is a mafia famliy like?" he thinks for a moment while chewing.

What a funny face he has!! " Mafia family is really like a real family. We might not necessary be related by blood but we are linked by the bonds we share with each other." with that being said, he receives cheers from his men. Dino san is really well-like by his men.

" Different families hold different values. Just for as the Cavallone family, we fight for justice. Our motto is ' Caring for the community is our deepest concern." Yes, we are mafia but we just want to ensure that the people around us are safe. Simply to say, we are like police. But the dark side one." he say proudly. Yes, I know Dino san and his men are not those people that kill for their benefits. Like those men in suits.

Since I have asked him 2 questions, it is his turn. I cant say that I am can trust Dino san completely but I can trust him enough with the brief story of my life. " Where do you come from? And where is your family?"

I knew he would ask that. Anyone who found a homeless person will say that. " I come from a town called Knotowa. A nice small place that is. And I am an orphan. I grew up in Knotowa's orphanage." he stops eating and seem to be digesting a rock information that I have throw at him.

He straighten up himself before apologising to me for asking these sensitive questions. I smiled and shake my head and tell him that it's fine. Because I am Yukiko not Yukiro anymore, I dont have to hide too much anymore. Seriously, Dino san is really a thoughtful guy. We eat for a little while before I begin to bombard him with questions.

" Why do you want to become a mafia boss?"

" Me wants to become a mafia boss?! No way!! But I have to. This post is not something you can choose. More of like this post chooses you instead. The 9th boss of Cavallone pass away when I am only 20 back then. Without knowing why, he had chosen me to be the tenth. But I was too young back then so my father get me a tutor while my uncle being the substitute boss for as long as I am ready."
