in first place is the downside to perfection by originalverbivore with a score of 55/60!

review:

i already love this story loads.

i think you do an excellent job at portraying mental disorders and the difficulty on telling other people about them as well as the stress of it. having dealt with similar problems in the past, i haven't read a book that showed that side and it made me want to just reach in and hug jason.

it's quite easy to sympathize with him and your way of describing him builds a bond between the reader and the character. i really enjoyed seeing the internal struggle inside him, and the small flashbacks that were triggered by the simplest things. and the emotions are described very clearly and can be felt by the reader.

sometimes the dialogue can get a bit weird. it's sometimes hard for me to tell who is talking, so make sure that you add in a bit more tags to make it clearer. also, maybe introduce emily as his girlfriend, best friend, etc, because it's hard for the reader to get a grasp on who she is. especially since you mention her so much, just make sure you make their relationship clear.

other than that, i have nothing to say! your writing is amazing, and youare very talented! i hope to see more of your works soon. :) ~ Jells_

in second place is larksong by davrielle with a score of 53/60!

review:

wow. i did not know that getting a job to be a maid was that difficult.

first off, that summary is one of the best that i've read all day (and trust me, i've read a LOT). it really drew me in and got me more engaged with the story line.

i love the interaction between millie and her brother. it shows how much they care for each other and just how much is at stake if she chooses the person she falls in love with (i haven't gotten to that part yet but it was in the summary). the fact that you were able to showcase henry's mental condition makes it so much more real, and really drags the reader into the story.

your first few chapters really set the mood for the story. i like the description that you put into your writing. it made it so easy to picture, yet also leaves enough for us to imagine. after all, that's why books are indeed better than movies. you can imagine :)

i don't really have anything to critique. some minor punctuation and spelling errors that can be fixed by a little editing. your words flow very nicely together as well. anyways, i can't wait to finish reading! ~ Jells_

in third place is all american boys by holysacrilege with a score of 51/60!

review:

first off, i love the book cover so much. it's a cute design and is very attention-grabbing. also, the title is original and not too many books have it.

i find the prologue interesting and it pulls me into the story. i'm sadly only three chapters in, but i can't wait to see how it'll play in with the rest of the story.

your chapters are very well written. i like how you slowly weave in more details, drawing from a base idea. you know when to leave things in suspense and when to go more in depth. however, sometimes your descriptions/adjectives can be a little off. one thing that i noticed a few times is when you kept calling hayden "the young man" which got a little confusing. it's generally better when you're able to tell the story without having the reader think for a moment. also, you give certain connotations with different adjectives that don't really fit. i'm not sure where, but sometimes when you describe hayden's eyes or positions it makes me think of him as cold or have him put in a negative light.

there were a few grammatical errors within the story (missing quotation marks or commas) but nothing that a few small edits won't fix. also, try to be a little more concise with your wordings.

anyways, i can't wait to read the rest of your work! keep up the good work and i hope you get all the recognition you deserve. :) ~ Jells_

congrats to all the winners!
