"Are you done ignoring me, Tak?" The voice was back, but Tak answered its question with silence. Mimi perked up. "Mew?"
Tak looked at her companion, surprised that she reacted to the voice. Mimi dashed quickly around the base, searching for the noncorporeal sound.
"-. --- / .-.. .. ..-. . / ..-. --- .-. -- ... / -.. . - . -.-. - . -.. .-.-.-" Mimi clicked.
"I know, Mimi..." Tak muttered. "It's nothing."
The voice's amused demeanor finally left it, the tone heavier and more serious. A hint of frustration crept in. "Tak, this is serious."
Tak's good antenna twitched slightly at the voice. Mimi tensed up.
"Tak. You're only chance at survival lies with me. It doesn't matter what you think. The Empire has labeled you Defective, you're a wanted criminal."
"-.. . ..-. . -.-. - .. ...- . ..--.." Mimi's head cocked to the side. "-- -.-- / -- .- ... - . .-. / .. ... / -. --- - / -.. . ..-. . -.-. - .. ...- . -.-.--"
A small smile tugged at Tak's expression as Mimi flicked her tail around Tak's chin affectionately.
Upstairs, the door opened and Zim could be heard shouting his cartoon-villainish curses at a laughing Dib somewhere in the distance. Tak perked up at the sound, readying her knife. Mimi did a couple laps around her ankles in preparation. "Let's go, Mimi!"
"-.-- . ... / -- .- .- -- -.-.--" Mimi saluted.
Tak dashed upstairs, her cat close behind. She made a quick task of pouncing Zim from behind, holding her knife to his throat.
"Wahh!! Tak! Let go of Ziiiiiiiim!" Zim's voice cracked as he struggled against his attacker.
"You deserve death, Zim!"
A pitter-patter came from the kitchen and G.I.R. screamed as he ran in the room. "YOU IZ SO LOUD!" He yelled. "YOU'RE SCARING TOASTY!"
Mimi beeped loudly at him, catching his attention. "Hai kitty kat!" G.I.R. bopped her on the head with his fist causing her to hiss and shoot off a laser at him. G.I.R. screamed "IM COMING TO SAVE YOU, TOASTY!!" and ran back into the kitchen.
".. / .... .- - . / - .... .- - / ... .-.-.- .. .-.-.- .-. .-.-.-"
Tak pressed the knife against Zim's skin, a tiny drop of pale pink blood snaked its way down the knife blade. Zim stopped squirming, say for the uncontrollable shaking in his joints due to the fear and the burning pain he was beginning to feel on his neck.
"Tak! Stop!" The voice now had a hint of panic. "Zim is important to the plan!"
Tak growled, still refusing to acknowledge the voice. Zim's antennae pricked up. "Wh-who was that!?"
Tak released the pressure on her knife slightly, staring at Zim.
"- .... . / . -. . -- -.-- / -.-. .- -. / .... . .- .-. / .. - / - --- --- .-.-.- .-.-.- .-.-.-"
"It doesn't matter, Mimi." Tak decided.
The voice protested, "It does matter, Tak! Zim is the key to this all-"
"Shut up! Damned voice!" Tak screeched, finally losing her cool.
"So you did hear that!" Zim concluded. "What's going on?"
