My team was waiting for me. Kaeza caught me and immediately enveloped me in a hug, the rest of the castle's inhabitants joining in.
Over someone's shoulder I could see Kairos, he was looking at the ground, and after a moment he turned towards the exit. My attention was drawn to Py who was telling me about the huge meal he made just for me to help me feel better.
I thanked him and my friends pushed me towards the dining room.
The meal was amazing, and the conversation was a good distraction, but there was something tugging at the back of my mind. The streams of darkness infecting the streams of light, and... Kairos.
I hated to admit it to myself but I wanted to kiss him. To be with him. To deepen our connection to each other.
But what if that's what causes his corruption?
What could the vision mean?
I slumped down on my bed and grabbed my communicator. It's been a couple of days since I talked to my brother last, which is probably the longest we've ever gone without seeing or talking to each other.
I dialed it up and put it on speaker, letting it ring. I didn't know how long it would take him to answer, he may be busy, I'm sure Matt has a billion things for him to do.
I got up and wandered around my room, nothing but the occasional ping from the communicator waiting for a return signal.
I know that the healing pod stitched up everything for the most part, but my shoulder was still sore. I stopped in front of my mirror, moving the strap of my tank top.
The scar was angry and red and was an uncomfortable diamond shape. I turned around and saw the exit wound, similar to the other side, but it had a burn circled around it, probably from where the gladiator's eye blew up.
I touched the skin, the nerve endings must have been damaged because while it felt like regular scar tissue to my finger, my shoulder itself felt numb and hot and sharp. I hope the pain goes away as it heals more.
I had just readjusted my top when the pinging stopped and Levi's voice came on over the comm.
"Genny, sorry for the wait, what's up? How are you?"
"Hey Levi, and it's ok, are you alone?"
"No, I'm in the workshop, do you need me to find some privacy?"
I picked up my communicator and turned it off speaker.
"Yeah,"
"Give me a minute," I heard distant shouting between Levi, Matt, and someone else before there was the light sound of my brother's laughter, which instantly warmed my heart and made me feel better.
"Ok, what's up Gen?"
"So, long story but I got knocked out in training-"
"Are you ok?"
"I'm fine, but I had a vision while I was out,"
"You did?"
"Yeah,"
"I thought that was Kairos's thing,"
"Well, I don't know that it was the same kind as his, but it started and I was in this white expanse and there were these streams of light around and Kairos was there too, and we uh," I lowered my voice, bringing the communicator closer.
"You what Gen?"
"In the dream-thing-vision we kissed, and it was fine, but then the streams of light turned dark and then Kairos was pushing himself on me because the darkness, it was like, infecting him, and then the darkness covered my eyes and Kairos has his hands around my neck and then I woke up in the healing pod,"
