When I woke up, the room was white with a light teal ceiling and windows on the right side of me. It was still night out.
Someone threw their arms around me. I realized that it was my little sister Akane.
"Akane?" I asked, hugging her back with my free arm, "Where am I? What happened?"
I noticed my Mom sitting in a seat next to her, looking at me with a smile.
"Well, we saw you laying in the streets and we took you to the hospital. We thought you fainted so we took you here until you woke up. There's also the issue with your hands." Akane said as she pointed to my hands.
I looked down and noticed that my hands were bandaged.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Your hands were scraped up really badly and they were all bloody. I guess you had a really bad fall, but having your hands out like that saved your head from getting injured." Akane said.
"Seems like it." I said as I lightly dragged the fingers on my right hand over my left hand. A slight pain following, I flinched.
Then I looked up at my little sister.
"And why did you say we so much?" I asked. Akane giggled and pointed to the left side of me.
"Oh? You didn't notice your friends, big brother?" Akane asked as she pointed to the right side of the room. I looked over to see Neon, Kira, and Yuki. They stood up from their chairs and walked over to me.
My heart skipped a beat as Neon got closer to me.
"Are you okay? How do you feel?" Neon asked.
"I-I'm good. It's just my hands that are bothering me at the moment." I said. Neon nodded and leaned over. She took my hand in hers and flipped it over to its backside.
"Can we see what your hands look like? Just to have a good image on how long it might take them to heal." Neon said. I nodded and unwrapped the bandage on the left hand.
"Don't forget the other one. Even it up." Kira said. I nodded and unwrapped the bandages on my right hand.
Both hands were pretty bad. My right and left palm had long red scrapes near each wrist. The wounds were fresh, and I didn't dare touch them.
"Yikes. It's gonna take a while for those to heal." Neon said.
Yuki looked over at me. Once he saw my hands, he immediately fainted and Kira caught him and held onto him in her arms.
"Anyway....can't you heal them now? I mean, being a magi and all." I said. Neon shook her head.
"Are you crazy? I can't use my powers in this hospital. People might see me. You know what happens to magi, Kori." Neon said. I nodded and looked down at my hands.
"Right...sorry." I said.
"It's okay, Kori. You just llllllooooooooovvvveeeee her, that's all." Akane said.
"AKANE! I told you not to say stuff like that!" I said. Akane giggled.
"It's true!" She said. My face growing red, I looked up at Neon.
I saw her look away. Her cheeks were slightly red. Did she love me back?
"Hey Neon, tell 'im." Kira said.
Neon shook her head and stared at the ground. Kira shrugged, carrying Yuki to a chair he had been sitting in previously and gently sat Yuki down in that chair. She walked back over to my bed.
Then she leaned over on my bed, put her left hand on it, and pointed he right thumb behind her at Neon.
"Then I guess I'll be man enough to tell 'im! Hey Kori, guess what? Neon loves you!" Kira said with a huge grin on her face.
