Elaine wakes up to the sounds of gunshots, soldiers, and innocents screaming in fear. Her ears are ringing and she's confused, She glances at herself and sees blood all over her that wasn't hers without knowing how the blood got there. She quickly hides in the rubble of her home, and observes the chaos in front of her. She sees 3 different lines of people, one line had men, another had women lined up, and children. Elaine recognized almost everyone in the 3 lines. The soldiers yell at them, but she can't make out what they are saying since her ears are still ringing. One soldier kills her neighbor, and then escorts everyone to the trucks. Elaine's ears had just stopped ringing. In shock of what she had witnessed she had no time to dwell she hears other soldiers coming she quickly books it. She manages to the other side of town without getting caught hiding in between places along the way. Elaine hid in a bookstore and She found a dead soldier. She takes his uniform and immediately changes into the uniform then she puts her hair up and hides it into her helmet. Elaine says to herself "If I can get away with being a soldier I could go to the U.S, and hopefully be safe there. "She continues to leave in hopes she can make it into the United
States."
