CHAPTER 01

CHAPTER 01 - TO JAPAN

Eberardo grinned as he pats my back and did his usual celebratory fist pump. "Nice Dig."

"Mhm, don't stay directly behind me. His cross is insanely fast," I whispered before rotating to the front of the net. "Will do but the wind direction isn't in our favour," He mentioned as he went to the service line to serve. "Nice Serve!" I yelled out as I dust the sand off my lap.

Eberardo groaned. "We almost won. Out of all the times, I could've sneezed. I just had to sneeze when it's my turn to spike." "It's fine. You can just join again next week and it's also my fault for freezing up that made us have to play a 3rd set." I reassured him.

"But you're leaving tomorrow! I at least wanted a farewell victory." Eberardo retorted with a pained look on his face. "I honestly don't understand how you're older than me." I ginned. "Only by six years," he argued. "The fact that you're an adult doesn't change," I replied back. In which he grinned in return.

"Obelius, "This time his tone was soft and serious. "Are you still planning on switching to indoor?"

I looked at him surprised. Was this what he was worried about this past week? I admit that I was expecting this topic to come up sooner or later... but I didn't expect it to be now.

I bit my lip and answered him truthfully. "I am. I want to stand on the stage my dad had stood on and play on the same team he had.  Plus, I promised Emil that I'll spike all his tosses. We've been preparing for this since we were kids... I can't just pull back now. Even if I don't want to use it. I'll do it if it means for us to win."

"Well then kid. Good luck. It's just that I can't send you off tomorrow and there are many things I wanted to say," Eberardo sighed before looking at me in the eyes. "You may say that I'm a little nosy but I'm worried about you. Since you're a beginner in indoor it won't be easy and I know that there will be people who will ask you to use your left but it seems like you've got it all under control."

"Obelius your grandmother is waiting outside!" Aunty Nice called out for me. "In a bit! "I answered back. I hugged Eberardo and gave him a thank you before I left.

"Do you have your passport, wallet, id and phone? Make sure to call us when you arrive there. Please don't follow strangers and wait for your father," Aunt Nice started to worry as she checked everything inside my bag. "Tell your dad that I'm still waiting for the rematch," Uncle Heitor grinned as he flexes his muscles. "Yes, Aunty and will do Uncle Heitor," I hugged Uncle Heitor and Aunt Nice before entering the departure hall.

The flight to Japan was long and bumpy. I managed to land safely and picked up my suitcase with no problem. Just as promised, I took out my Japanese line and immediately called my aunt so that she could inform my grandmother of my safe arrival and then tried to contact my father.

"Hello, dad. Where are you?" I asked. "Oh, Kaito.. didn't you see my messages?" My dad asked confused. "I did but I can't read Kanji... remember?" I told my dad. I was a little embarrassed. I know how to read Hiragana and Katakana after taking my time to memorize them but kanji... that is a whole new level of memorization. I can only read numbers which are in kanji.

"Oh... sorry I forgot," Dad laughed nervously. "Just wait outside. I'll come to find you."

I walked out and took in my surroundings. I couldn't believe that I'm in Japan. I shivered as the wind started to blow towards my direction. "It's still early march so it's a little cold," Dad laughed. "Let's go. My car is on the other side."

"Dad. Where are we going?" I asked whilst buckling on my seatbelt. "I still have my training to do, so you're coming with me to the Jackals gymnasium," He answered as he pulled out of the parking lot. "You'll be sharing an apartment with Yuki until the end of your high school," He added.

I looked at him confused. "What about you dad?"

He looked at the side mirror before making a left. "I'm busy practising and won't be able to go to and from Tokyo to Miyagi every day and there will be times where I have to go overseas. Which is why I have an apartment in Tokyo." He answered. "Since both, you and Yuki want to attend Karasuno instead of a school in Tokyo, Kageyama and I thought that it'll be better if both of you stayed together. That way we can trust that you'll both watch over each other."

I nodded silently and looked outside. So, he's really busy. "Dad. Uncle Heitor is still waiting for a rematch," I said over the silence. My dad laughed. "We're here." My dad parked the car near the entrance and took out his sports bag and went inside. I followed his lead and took my time looking around. This place is huge... I guess that's to be expected of a 1st division team.

"Hey. Hey. Hey!" I heard someone cheer. I looked over to the left and saw a man odd hair. While the one next to him looked exhausted. "Hinata Jr.!" He called out. I looked around and pointed at myself. "Me?" I mean... someone else could have the same surname.

"My name is Bokuto Kotaro!" The man with odd hair introduces himself. "And the one next to me is Miya Atsumu!" He aggressively slaps his back without warning.

"That hurts you mop," Miya glared at him. "You don't look like Hinata at all," Miya looked between my father and I. "I get that a lot. I look more like my mother," I smiled politely. "And you're tall," He sized me up which made me fidget uncomfortably. "I get that a lot too. Apparently, the males in my mom's family are tall," The man looked back at my dad. "Are you sure he's just starting High School?" He scrunched his nose and pointed at me with his thumb whilst doing the height gesture.

"Stop doing that. You're making him feel uncomfortable," A man with a mask appeared while leaning his back in a dark corner. "This guy is Sakusa Kiyoomi!" Bokuto pulled him away from the corner and introduced him.

"Are you already vaccinated?"Sakusa hesitantly walks towards me.

"I have...," I looked towards my dad who simply nods.

"Well, as you all probably know this is my son, Hinata Obelius Kaito. Please take good care of him." Dad grinned.

This chapter is short due to the fact that I want to introduce the character and their objectives.

Please don't be shy to point out my mistakes. This fanfiction is a totally new concept for Haikyuu and it still needs time to get used to but I really hope you all will like it. This chapter is made when the Jackals and Schweiden Alders are going against each other.

I'm also writing this while still in shock that Tanaka is married to Kiyoko and Sakusa is in MSBY! I pretty much have to edit the whole thing just to add sakusa..

We can't leave him out..
