"Princess." His voice sounded different since the last time she'd heard it.

It was quieter now.

More of a whisper that was laced with confusion.

The confidence she had usually recognised was gone, but still Marinette couldn't quite put her finger on why it was.

"How are you?" She mustered up, trying to fish for the reason behind this surprise visit.

"Honestly? I could be better..." Chat slowly drifted. "You're probably wondering why I'm here though, right?"

"I am." She said, not meaning to sound as quiet as she was.

Chat couldn't stop his anxious giggle from escaping his lips and his involuntary head scratch. He was nervous without a doubt, but this was something he knew he had to do.

In order to close his heart to one, and open it for another and maybe, just maybe, find what he'd been looking for.

"I'm sorry I left early last night." He told her and he'd meant it.

"It's okay, Chat. I get it. Sometimes superheroes have to leave."

"Still- I should've told you." He spoke, taking a step closer and causing Marinette to automatically take a hesitant step backwards.

"Do I make you uncomfortable?" Chat pointed, noticing Marinette's  uncertainty towards him.

"No... it's just..." Marinette slumped when she realised that she had no clue about how she felt. Especially when it came to Chat.

"Somethings changed between us. Hasn't it?" Spoke Chat in a low tone.

Marinette nodded slowly, fully unaware of where this conversation was going though she could hear her heart beating loudly and wondered if Chat could too.

Chat took a breath and swiftly took her hands in his, becoming ever so close.

"Marinette..." He started. "I want to give this a chance. I want to give us a chance. I've been in love with Ladybug for so long that I was blind and couldn't see what was right in front of me. It's you, Princess.

It's always been you."

"Chat..." Mari breathed out. Sure, she was certain that the dynamic between was completely different now, but was she ready?

Was she truly ready to move on from the only love she'd ever known?

Adrien.

It all came down to him.

It always had.

For years she'd pined over him without any indication that he'd ever felt the same way for her.

Maybe it was time to finally move on.

She glanced from top to bottom at the Chat that stood before her and without realising, a smile formed on her lips.

Marinette let out the breath she'd been holding for far too long and gently squeezed Chat's hands and that's when he figured out her answer.

He snaked his arms around her small frame and held her closely, taking in her warmth, her smell and her presence.

They fit together like puzzle pieces, almost as if they were made specifically for each other.

He gazed down at her, while she gazed up.

It wasn't long before their lips touched and in that moment of time it was as if two souls had been sealed together, becoming one.

They were lost in each other and it was magic.

He kissed her, harder.

He kissed her like her lips were air and he couldn't breathe.

He needed her.

And she needed him.

Both Chat and Marinette slowly etched apart, though they were still close together.

As they looked into the each other's eyes in the aftermath, it was then that they had realised that this was what they'd been waiting for their whole lives.

They just didn't know it until then.

Marinette awoke the next morning from her slumber feeling refreshed. Her eyes fluttered open as the sun shone on her face.

Once she'd recalled the events from the night before, she couldn't help but giggle at the memory and unintentionally lifted her hand to graze her fingers on her lips.

Chat kissed her.

Boy, did he kiss her.

It was all she could think about all day and all night.

She saw him in a completely different light now and being with him felt good.

Amazing, actually.

"Gooood morning, Marinette! Did you sleep okay?" Tikki whizzed up towards Marinette's face and nuzzled her cheek in a greeting manner.

"I did actually. It may even have been the best sleep of my life." Giggled Mari.

"That wouldn't have to do with a blonde, black Chat would it?" Tikki teased.

Marinette just sighed in response unaware of the rosy red blush forming on her cheeks.

"Oh Marinette." Tikki laughed lightly.

But still, there was a slight twinge of pain and hurt deep inside her and she knew exactly what, or rather who, it was.

Brushing the thought of a certain blonde away to the back of her mind, she reached for her phone to check for any messages she may have received.

And sure enough, there it was.

Chat: Good morning, Princess.

Chat: I can't stop thinking about last night. About you.

The smile Marinette wore deepened into a grin and she quickly found herself typing in a reply.

Marinette: Good morning Kitty. I can't stop thinking about you either. It's strange.

"Strange knowing that someone else feels the same, for once." Marinette spoke aloud as she hit the send button.

It was only a second before her phone pinged with a reply.

Chat: Good strange, right?

Marinette: Very good.

Chat: Does this mean I'm able to see more of you?

Marinette: Of course. Will you come over tonight?

Chat: It's a date.
