🐞🐈The last few days were quiet for Marinnete.
There were absolutely zero akuma attacks, which gave the the hero some much needed free time to finally complete her designs for the fashion competition, which was now only a couple sleeps away.
She was also glad to be able to put her focus on something that didn't include a pair of insanely hot blonde boys and evil butterflies.
Marinette decided it was time to get some shut eye, so she gave her designs a once over to make sure everything still looked perfect and then went on to get ready for bed.
She got dressed in her usual pyjamas- a black and white spotted spaghetti strap top and a pair of pastel pink, floral pants, brushed her teeth and put her head to rest on her pillow.
But something unexpected happened.
Well, it wasn't that unexpected.
She received a text from Chat Noir who had been unusually quiet as of late.
Chat: Are you awake, Princess?
Marinette smiled at the message and quickly responded.
Marinette: Just about to sleep. What's up Kitty?
Moments later, the Chat responded.
Chat: I have a surprise for you. I'll be over in five to pick you up.
Marinette was surely confused about what to expect, but still she texted back an 'okay' and hurried down her bed to put on a coat since the weather was a little on the cold side tonight.
Chat Noir arrived precisely when he said he would and he tapped on her trapdoor as he always did whenever he visited.
Marinette opened the door and locked eyes with her kitten.
She welcomed him with a hug, pulling him in closely and revelling in his distinct scent.
"I've missed you." He whispered I her ear, causing an erupt of goosebumps all over her body.
"Me too. So what do you have up your sleeve, Kitty?" Marinette asked, in a hushed tone.
"It's a surprise. You'll see." Chat said with a giant smirk stuck on his face. "Hold on." He whispered softly and wrapped his arms around the girl he had fallen so hard for, and scooped her up.
Together, they soared across the rooftops, the wind in their faces and the entire city beneath them.
Even though they had both done it probably a thousand times, it was somehow different when they were with each other.
Marinette leaned her head into Chats chest and closed her eyes, raking in the feel of his body against hers, allowing herself to fall just a little bit deeper in love with him.
She was interrupted of her content-ness by Chat's voice, telling her that they had arrived.
When Marinette opened her eyes, her mouth instantly opened in awe.
They stood in a garden.
But it wasn't average in the slightest.
There were endless green bushes that surrounded them, closing them off to the world. All of which were covered in the same tiny white flowers. Above them, hung matching white string lights that illuminated the area, giving it an angelic glow.
And to top it off, there was the most magnificent water fountain, and in the centre stood an angel- she had glorious wings plastered on her back and her smile... well, it made Marinette feel as though everything was of going to be okay.
And if that wasn't enough, there was also a small picnic made up of all of Marinette's favourite foods beside the fountain.
Everything was beyond words and
Marinette was overwhelmed with emotions. She was happy, amazed, surprised and so incredibly grateful that Chat had gone to such lengths just for her.
"What do you think?" Chat spoke softly, lacing his hand with hers.
"It's..." Marinette started. "Perfect beyond words."
"So are you." Chat said, unable to look her in the eyes.
He took a deep breath and readied himself for the speech he had been preparing for the last few days.
"Marinette." Chat faced the blue-haired girl and their eyes met. "There's no words to describe the way I feel about you, but I'm going to try.
I've fallen for you. Completely.
Everything you do.
Everything you say.
Everything you are.
You're perfect.
Inside and out.
You, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, have changed my life and you've made me feel things I never imagined I'd feel.
And I trust you wholeheartedly, without any doubts in my mind. And that's why I want to tell you.
I want us to take a leap of faith in this relationship we have.
And I hope, that once I tell you, we can fully commit to each other without the mask.
If you want to, that is."Marinette hadn't realised she was holding her breath until her throat burned, forcing the air out.
"Chat, I don't know about this. Your identity... is a secret." She spoke softly, although her heart was screaming at her in disagreement."Marinette. I trust you... all I ask is that you trust me too." Chat looked at the girl in front of him with pleading eyes. He was silently begging her to agree.
"I do trust you, Chat."
"Then that's all I need to know."
Chat took a deep breath to calm his nerves.
This was it.
This was the moment that would determine what the rest of his life would look like.
And whether Marinette would be apart of it or not.
"Plagg, claws in."
A bright green glow appeared at the bottom of Chats body, slowly working its way upwards.
And then Chat Noir was gone.
