A Luke Hemmings Imagine

Word Count: 1,250

Warnings: extremely depressing and triggering, deaths

It was a cold, dark, rainy night. Thunder crashed and the rain kept pouring down onto the roof of your house. You had just gotten home from work. You changed out of your uniform and into ripped skinny jeans, a Green Day shirt and a black hoodie. You and your husband Luke had bought this house about half a year ago. You both loved it here and the house was the perfect size for you two. You sat down on your sofa, coffee mug in hand, thinking about how nice life has been the past few months. Your thoughts were interrupted by your phone ringing. You read the caller ID; Luke's mom was calling. I wonder why she's calling me today...you thought.

"Y/N! You have to come to the hospital, something's happened to Luke!" Liz says, crying uncontrollably.

"Wait, what? What do you mean?" You said, your heart beating at a faster pace as you grew more anxious.

"Something terrible has happened...the boys were in a deadly car crash. I don't know anything exact right now, but it's bad. You need to come to the hospital quickly Y/N!" Liz says.

"I'll be there as soon as possible." You say.

Your hear Liz hang up and you turn your phone off. You're at the brink of tears and your breathing is heavy. Within seconds you snapped out of your thoughts and ran to your car, grabbing your keys on the way. You started the car and started driving towards the hospital. Tears kept coming and they wouldn't stop. Tears fell down your cheeks like the rain drops fell down the windows of your black car. You couldn't control your breathing patterns and you began to worry about the worst.

Liz said it was bad...what does that mean? They couldn't be...dying...could they? These dark assumptions ran through your mind, only making your anxiety worse. You put on the brakes as you approached jammed traffic in the interstate. Soon you were at a full stop and you tried to calm down. None of your attempts to calm down succeeded, but the cars soon started to move slowly once more. You could see the flashing lights of several police cars and a few firetrucks. You drove slowly by what looked like a very dangerous car crash scene.

Your eyes were locked on the black SUV that was smashed in the back and left side. There was broken glass everywhere and you thought you saw blood on the car door. You could've sworn that your heart stopped. That was the boy's car that they rode in almost every day to the studio and back. That was the car that you sat in the day that Luke first took you to the studio to watch the boys record their debut album. That was the car that you watched Luke get into this morning, a smile on his face and rain drops on his forehead. This was the crash site...this was the car crash that the boys were in.

Your mind raced and you pressed down on the gas. You didn't care what people thought or if police came after you, you had to get to that hospital now. This was even worse than you could've ever imagined. More tears fell down your cheeks and you let out a cry as you pulled into the hospital parking lot. You saw Calum's family's car in the parking lot, along with a few other cars that you recognized. You parked your car wherever there was room and ran inside the emergency room. There were no close parking spaces, so by the time you got inside the building your were soaked to the bone. You shivered and your teeth clattered as you frantically searched for a familiar face.

Mali Koa, Calum's sister, caught your eye and you called for her. Mali quickly turned to face you and her eyes were red and filled with tears. You ran to her and you both hugged each other tightly as you both let out your cries. You squeezed your eyes shut and tried to ignore the pain, but it was too overwhelming to ever possibly ignore. Mali didn't stop crying and you knew she wouldn't anytime soon. More worry filled your soul and you could feel your heart breaking; something was very wrong and you now knew it for sure.

"I saw Calum, I saw him before they took him away from me! He looked so broken Y/N. What the hell am I supposed to do with myself if he doesn't make it?" Mali said.

You cried even harder, which was something that you didn't think would even be possible. Your heart was truly pained and it felt so hard to breath. Mali finally pulled away from you and the look in her eyes was completely indescribable. It was as if someone had ripped Mali's heart right out of her chest and made her watch as it was destroyed.

You heard footsteps approaching you and you turned to see Luke's father, Andy. He looked almost like Mali, with that indescribable look in his eyes as tears fell down his cheeks. You had never seen any of the boys or their families like this before and it absolutely broke your heart like nothing else. You thought you knew pain, but this was unlike anything you had ever went through before.

You looked behind Andy. You saw all of the boys' families and a few of their friends that must've arrived recently. They all looked either sad, worried, angry, or a combination of the three. You walked over to everyone and the whole situation was explained to you. The boys were on their way to the soumdcheck for the first show of their tour that started tonight. Well, the first show of their tour is ruined. Hell, all of our lives our probably gonna be ruined if this doesn't turn out good, you thought to yourself, creating more tears in your eyes and anxiety in your stomach.

Soon a large door down the hall opened, revealing a doctor. He was a small man and he held a clipboard. Liz looked over and she must've recognized him, because she ran to him at full throttle. You clenched your teeth and your held onto the sides of your chair tightly. You watched as Liz began talking to the doctor with Andy. Calum's mother soon joined them, along with Ashton's mom and Michael's father.

You watched the doctors lips as they moved. You wondered about the words he was saying, about the fate he was predicting. You watched as the doctor's facial expression changed to a more sympathetic one and your stomach churned. Two more tears fell down your cheeks as you waited for what was going to happen next.

Liz cried out, "No, no! No, this cannot be! You have to save him, he can't be..gone..No!"

Everyone around you reacted immediately, either crying, screaming, yelling or even running out of the room. You sat still. You felt completely empty inside. Your heart felt as if it was burning away, turning into black-ish gray ashes. Your body felt as fragile as a porcelain doll and the world stopped for a moment.
Your eyes locked onto the plain white wall across from you.

You didn't even cry anymore, you felt so dead. You felt like your soul was ripped from your body. All you needed was one more depressing thought and you were done.

That depressing thought came too quickly.
