Chapter 3: The Tourney Game

It was the day of the big Tourney game. Lucas met up with Lonnie, and the two headed out to the field to watch. Evie and the purple-haired girl, whose name Lucas learned was Mal, also joined them at Lonnie's request. He was lucky enough to stand by Evie, who seemed to really be enjoying the game. Auradon won, and in the excitement, Evie grabbed Lucas's arm. He was startled by the sudden contact and looked at her, who also seemed to just notice what she did. However, before either of them could say anything, Ben took the mic from the announcer and started a cheer spelling out Mal's name.

Mal was now holding Ben's jersey, which he threw to her during the song before he jumped into the crowd and crowdsurfed over to her. He also tried to kiss her, but she stopped him.

"I love you, Mal!" Ben says, "Did I mention that?"

"Chad's my boyfriend now!" Audrey says, taking the mic from Ben. "And I'm going to the coronation with him. So, I don't need your pity date." She then proceeded to kiss Chad before Ben took the mic back.

"Mal! Will you go to the coronation with me?" He asked.

"Yes!" Mal replied.

"She said yes!" Ben said excitedly as everyone cheered. Ben was later pulled away from the team and everyone celebrated again before leaving. Lucas then decided to take his chance and talk to Evie.

"Hey, Evie."

"Hm?" She replied, turning to face him.

"Well, I uh, I just wanted to know if-"

"E. There you are, Come on." Mal says, interrupting Lucas and pulling Evie away.

"Sorry." Evie replied as she left.

"Yeah." He says, mostly to himself. "Nice going, Lucas. I'll try again in class."
