(Sophia's POV)

"Do I have to go?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

"Because you don't need to be locked up in here all day."

"Why?"

"Soph, I'm not playing this game with you."

"Why?"

"Because we're not five."

"Agree to disagree." I said sticking my tongue out.

"Get up and get dressed. I'm giving you ten minutes." Gavin said before walking out of my room.

"I have to shower!" I called after him.

"Twenty minutes then."

After my shower, I quickly got dressed and put my wet hair up in a messy bun. I didn't do my makeup because I never wear any. I don't like it.

"Ready?" Gavin called.

"Yes, I'm ready." I said, walking out.

"Let's go."

Gavin showed up about a hour ago. He said that Phoebe spent last night at her parents house and that we've been invited to a get together.

"We were just there like yesterday." I said on our way there.

"No, we were there four days ago. Classes are canceled today, so they're having a get together."

I haven't seen all of our friends since the night we played truth or dare. I've obviously seen Phoebe, but I haven't seen the others. I don't want to see the pity in their eyes.

"Good afternoon." Phoebe's mom, Elena, said as she opened the door.

"Afternoon."

"Come on in. Everyone is in the living room."

"Thanks."

We walked in and, sure enough, everyone was there.

"Sophia and Gavin. Welcome!" Richard said.

"Thank you."

"Dinner will ready soon. We're still waiting on a few guests to arrive. We're having hamburgers and hotdogs and a whole bunch of other stuff." He said before walking out to the patio.

"Guests?" I asked, looking at Phoebe.

"Yeah," she sighed. "He's invited some people from work. Wants to make a good impression on them. Mom and I aren't too sure. He's crazy."

While we waited for dinner, we made our way downstairs to play a quick game of pool.

"Phoebe, come up here a second!" Elena called from upstairs, halfway through our game of pool.

"I'll be back. Soph, you shoot for me." She said handing me her stick.

Five minutes later, I was about to take a shot on Phoebe's behalf when she came flying down the stairs.

"Food is ready and the guests are here." She said with a smile.

"What's with the creepy smile?" Julian asked.

"One of our guests is extremely handsome. Like knock-your-socks-off handsome."

We followed her upstairs to the kitchen where we heard people talking. Everyone went fully into the kitchen, but I stopped at the doorway.

She was wrong.

He wasn't handsome.

He was beautiful. Dangerously beautiful.

Then something hit me out of nowhere. I can't explain it. It was a feeling. I felt it deep down in my soul, in my heart, everywhere.

"Soph, come get some food." Phoebe said, noticing that I was still in the doorway.

His eyes shifted to mine and I knew. I felt it click.

Peace.

I felt at truly peace for the first time in years.

"Sophia, what's wrong?" Sean asked, tugging on my hand.

The man's eyes went to where Sean was holding me and his body tensed. I stepped away from Sean, aware that the whole room was watching now.

I took a step toward him and then another.

But I stopped when he held his hand out in a fist form. When he opened his hand, I took another step forward. I did it unconsciously. My body still remembered.

Tears were rolling down my cheeks as I suddenly took off in a run and launched myself at him. His arms wrapped around my waist as my legs went around his.

That's when the dam broke and all my tears came pouring out. I latched onto him like a leech. God himself couldn't have pulled me off him.

At that moment I didn't care that everyone was staring. All I cared about was him.

I held on tighter when I felt and heard someone step behind me. I was afraid they'd take him from me.

"What is going on?" Julian asked.

"Shut up." Gavin said from behind me.

"You can take her to the guest bedroom down the hall, if you need a minute." Elena said softly.

I refused to let go of him or remove my face from his neck. His skin was wet from my tears...and probably my snot too. He didn't seem to care though.

The second the door to the bedroom was shut and we were alone, he pulled my face away from his neck.

He brushed my hair away from my face and wiped my tears away as he sat on the edge of the bed.

"How's my girl?" He asked softly.

I shook my head and continued to cry.

"Not so bright anymore."

"No." I whispered, biting my lip.

He cupped my face and leaned in to kiss my forehead.

"I've got you now. I'm sorry that it's taken this long." He said.

"Don't....don't leave me." I cried.

"Never again. I promise. The Moon always keeps his promise to the Sun. Right?"

I nodded.

All the crying made me so tired and pretty soon I had actually passed out. But that was the first time in years that no nightmares came.
