Chapter 10

Monte’s POV

The deep frown of my face instigated a scornful silence to intertwine the large group overlooking the Bangtan mansion, where we were all trying to stomach the emotions of distaste and spite circulating through our bodies. Neither Crimson or the Sakurai Mafia were pleased with current events, we were especially unhappy about Namjoon demanding a meeting. We were angered that he was annoyingly inconsiderate towards the fact that we were planning for a big operation. An operation that he had known about since our last meeting together. It was the biggest operation of our lives and he was destroying our flow.

At first, Namjoon was all in favor of an assault on a major weapons hold in a warehouse that belonged to Robyn. Any opportunity we had to add to our arsenal, we would take it without hesitation, knowing that it would help our cause in the long run. It was really the only thing we could do in hopes of preserving our lives. However, now it seemed like he was against everything we were working on, whether it was strengthening Incheon’s borders or planning small operations. No one understood what was circulating through that complex mind of his, but we all maintained a single, solid consensus. That man was livid by the fact that we were keeping Sae-Young’s whereabouts a secret and as leverage, he was disturbing our work. One thing was clear however, he was overstepping his boundaries. Our respect for the mafia leader had fallen to an all-time low and we weren’t going to tolerate it any further.

The last time I checked, Sae-Young was a grown woman, capable of making her own choices and dealing with the consequences. After the accident, it was almost as if he was trying to control where she went and what she did. Sae-Young was a sensible person, she would not tolerate any unreasonable shackles, even if those shackles were her own brother.

I led the way to the mansion’s looming front doors, taking on a leadership role to relieve some stress from my beloved sister’s shoulders. Taking a quick glance behind me, I held back a few snickers after observing Erika’s penguin-like walk. Now that her belly was very pregnant, she’s been having trouble getting around on her own. In times like these, I was grateful to Yoongi who has stuck to her side like glue and making sure she was well taken care of through this stage of her life. I surely have a lot to thank him for.

Just like the others, my brothers and I were excitedly waiting for the arrival of our nephew. Even as we were younger, talking about our future children was a dream that we shared together. Now that it was finally happening, it felt like a breath of fresh air to all of this chaos. Despite the stressful war planning taking place, there was still enough excitement to bring about plans for a baby shower.

Clearing my mind of those thoughts, I reminded myself that I needed to stand as a beacon of strength for the others. This was going to be the hardest part of this war: standing our ground against our own ally and refusing to back down no matter the ultimatum. No alliance is solid, we knew that from heart. With what’s happened between Bangtan and Crimson, we can’t fully rely on the boys or even begin to hope that there is anything saving our relationship.

The moment we were dreading was finally here, and no matter what, we couldn’t back down. The others now stood behind me in support, ready to back me if I need their help. I narrowed my eyes as I now stared down at the man at the other end of the table. An intense tension now took root within the meeting room, both Namjoon and I contributing to the eerie and sticky atmosphere. Everyone bit their tongues, afraid of saying the wrong thing that would only contribute to the fire starting to burn.

“I’m going to ask one last time. Where is Sae-Young?” Namjoon hissed.

The expression on his face dared me to avoid his question. If I didn’t choose the correct answer, I would pay dearly for it. But then again, we’re already it hot water, why not turn up the heat?

“And I’m going to repeat myself one last time. She has personal business to attend to.”

I couldn’t help but smirk as Namjoon stood up from his chair in a rage, knocking it backwards. It was humorous to watch steam spew from his ears and nose.

“Fucking tell me where she is!” Namjoon exploded, pointing an accusing finger at me. “You purposefully blocked us from locating her, what are you trying to do?!”

Everyone trapped within the room stood on edge, unable to bear Namjoon’s unnecessary outburst. We were all waiting for it, everyone knew it was going to happen, and it was blown out of proportion. It was all thanks to his inability to properly consolidate with his sister.

“Do not blame us for your fallout with Sae-Young. If you had been more responsible, then you would have had a chance at saving your relationship with her,” I scolded. “Until you realize your mistakes, forget trying to find her.”

Without letting him shoot back, I signaled for the others to follow me. Thankfully, Namjoon offered no further objections and let us leave without another word.

Turning back to face the rest of the group, I was met with faces of worry.
"From here on, we can only rely on ourselves. After what happened in there, we can't expect that they will be there at our beckon and call. Protecting Incheon will be our job and no one else's."
Nii-san, do you really think he’s going to leave us alone?” Kei asked me.
Of course not,” I sighed. “But until Sae-Young finds Taehyung, we need to stay strong. She hasn’t given up, so neither can we.
