It was time. Time to meet the thing I've been longing for the most.I take a deep breath as I step off the train and into the open air, smoke from the train floating amongst the crowds of people.
"You ready?" Oliver stands beside me with a huge smile on his face.
"Ready as I'll ever be." I take a few more deep breaths then me and Oliver maneuver around parents and children and whoever else might be here.
We float around for several minutes, Oliver grasping on to my hand as we go so I don't get lost in the sea of people.
"There they are!" Oliver points to a pair of people, backs faced to us. My heart stops. This was it. It was happening. Every choice I've ever made in my life has lead me to this moment. And, now that it was here, I was terrified. What if I'm not what they expected? What if I don't live up to their expectations?
What if they wish that I was just kept a secret and never met them? There are so many things that could go wrong.Oliver continues dragging me by my hand but I stop walking. He turns back to look at me, a puzzled look on his face.
"Bella? What's wrong? Come on, they're right over their-"
"I can't do it." I say breathlessly, trying to stay calm. Thoughts run through my mind of all the possible negative outcomes.
"What? Why not?" He walks over to me and leans down holding my hand.I take a deep breath. I don't wanna end up crying and seem weak. For crying out loud, I'm meeting my family! I feel like I should feel more grateful, but at the same time I wish I wasn't meeting them. I wish things were back to the way they were. Calm me selfish, please, but I've been alone for 13 years and this is a hell of a big change.
"I'm scared." I say truthfully, making eye contact.
He chuckles.
"Bella, I assure you there is nothing to be afraid of. They are going to love you. You have my word." He stands up, hold his hand out. I take it, and we walk through the crowds once more towards them.I stop in my tracks and stare at the couple ahead of me, wide eyed. They are facing the other direction, obviously nervous. The man checks his watch while the woman keeps on trying to peer past many heads.
"Mom. Dad." Oliver says to get their attention. The two people turn around quickly and lock eyes with me.
Both of them are very tall and slender. The woman with dark brown hair and pale skin, like mine. The man with lighter hair like Oliver's and deep brown eyes."This... is Arabella."
"Hi-" I barely get the word out before I am pulled into a big hug. And awfully tight, might I add.
"Oh, my baby!" The woman sobs into my shoulder, and I can feel her hot tears soak through my shirt.
It's not long before I feel my own faucets in my eyes start to turn.
"M-m-mom," I manage to get out.
I hug back with just as much strength, my father joining in.
"You found us." He says into my hair, stroking it."Quit it now. You're gonna make me cry!" Oliver laughs, his eyes becoming glossy.
We break away from the embrace, and I smile looking around at each of them.
This is better than anything I could've imagined."So, a troll, a giant snake, then a cold hearted criminal!?" My father asks, his eyes lighting up like a child on Christmas.
"Hey, for your information he was proven innocent and is my friends Godfather. Not to mention, a lovely person." I defend playfully with a smile.
"She's one little fighter, I'll tell ya." Oliver smirks.
My mother elbows my father, with a smirk and an eye roll. "You're just like your father."
"I didn't get into Hufflepuff for nothin'" I smirk, poking at my steak.
"This is nice. Thank you." I smile widely."Of course! You're our daughter."
"By the way, this food is delicious!" We all laugh and I feel content. After so many years. So much loneliness and hurt.
I finally found them.
They finally found me.
I was home.
Thank you all so much for reading!!! And make sure to be on the lookout for year four 😉
