We aren't friends, muggie!""Why would I want to be friends with you?"
I WANDER AROUND THE corridors, not going anywhere in particular, my feet dragging across the wooded floors.
After what happened in Defense Against the Dark Arts, I wanted to clear my head, make sense of it all. People would often pass and ask if I was okay, but I just gave a fake smile and moved on. I check my watch and it is time for dinner, so I make my trip to the great hall.
I know if I sit at the Gryffindor table, I'll be bombarded with questions, but I usually sit with them at dinner so if I sit at the Hufflepuff table Cedric will know somethings up. And, no matter what table I go to, I have the pass the Slytherin table, which I am not looking forward to.I take a deep breath before I push open the doors. Everyone else is already there, and everyone looks at me. People whisper amongst themselves. Everyone most likely knows by now, I mean word in Hogwarts travels fast.
I freeze for a second from everyone's eyes on me, then I make my way to the table.
I glance over to the Slytherin table as I walk, and I shiver. Almost every Slytherin looks like they want to skin me, for whatever reason.
I quickly look away, then plop down in a seat."Hey, why aren't you sitting with Potter?" Cedric asks, cutting his steak. My face beats up at the mention of his name, and I try to look everywhere but at Cedric.
I shrug. "I feel like I never see you anymore."
He laughs.
"We all know that you needed a break from me. So what's up? I know somethings up." He whispers the last part so only I can hear.
I punch his shoulder playfully."I could never get tired of you Ced." I still don't look at him.
"Hey!" He snaps his fingers in my face to get my attention.
"Answer my question." He says sternly. I still don't look at him, I look anywhere but in his direction. I look over to the Slytherin table, and Malfoy is staring timidly at me and Cedric. Cedric notices I'm looking somewhere, and he turns to the direction I'm looking in.
"Malfoy? What did he do? I swear-" he starts to get up, but I pull him back down.
"He didn't do anything. For once, no."He sighs. "Then what happened? I'm sure it can't be that bad." Oh he has no idea.
"Ced, I'm sorry but I can't tell you. It's too embarrassing.""Embarrassing? What ever it is, I won't laugh I promise." He smiles.
I smile a small smile back, but then look back down picking at my nails.
"Cedric... it's... I'm sorry I just can't bring myself to say it."
"Alright then. Well, I can't make you tell me. But just know that you can tell me anything." He reached down and grabs my hand.
"Of course I know that. You're my best friend. It's just... I don't want to think about it."
And, I didn't want to. But the thing was, I just couldn't. Whenever I started to think of something else, it someone led to me thinking about it once more.
"Ok." We push the matter to the side and enjoy our dinner, laughing, talking, and whatnot.
