"Where is Lynxshadow?" Aspenpaw was awoken by oakstars hiss.
"L-Lynxshadow? I haven't seen her." The young she-cat replyed sleepily. "I reckon you've woken the whole camp with that growl." She lay back down to sleep again, but oakstar grabbed her scruff and dragged the poor apprentice to outside of camp, into the pouring rain.
"Look for her then." He growled, turning to pad back into camp.
"All alone? In the middle of the night? While it's raining?"
Oakstar flicked his tail in reply. "Don't return until you've found her."
"Found who?" A cat walked out of the shadows. "Why is an apprentice, who is yet to have much battle training, out in the middle of the night, tasked with finding someone, especially after seeing and scenting numerous badgers on our territory?"
"L-Lynxshadow, you're here! I was looking for you. Also, if your apprentice hasn't had much battle training then-"
"No, you listen to me, oakstar! She could be mauled by a badger, but would you care? No!" Lynxshadow paced towards him. "You have no regard for anything or anyone but yourself and your so called 'legacy'. If you had a shred of remorse for your actions, you would step down from leader! You wouldn't have killed our daughter-"
"Oh, we have another, much better one. Why do you care?"
"Why would I care! Why would I care? Because, she was my daughter. A-and...you killed him Didn't you? A-and...You're driving away every cat I love arn't you?" Lynxshadow started to seem defeated. "You want to manipulate me, don't you? I'm nothing but the dirt beneath your filthy, blood stained claws, aren't I?" Aspenpaw watched in silence, face filled with awe. She hadn't noticed the thunderstorm starting above them. Lightning struck into camp, thunder roaring like a lion. Aspenpaw and Lynxshadow dashed into camp to see the nursery on fire.
"Evacuate the camp!" Aspenpaw yowled into the apprentice den. "There's a fire!"
"Fire! Where?" Mudpaw looked around anxiously.
"You heard her, get out." Adderpaw hissed to Squirrelpaw
"Where should we go?" Sparrowpaw asked.
"Go to the riverclan border." Lynxshadow told the apprentice. "I'll go speak to Willowstar."
Cats rushed around, desperate to escape the flames, trying to reach the gorse tunnel. Aspenpaw went to the front of the group and saw Lynxshadow and oakstar arguing.
"Why are you helping cats." The brown tom growled
"Because, no innocent cats should lose their lives when we could have saved them!" Lynxshadow hissed back.
"They can all burn. I don't care for anything, according to you." Lynxshadows eyes flashed with rage. "Now come on, we gotta go to riverclan."
"No, oakstar. I hope that you burn." Lynxshadow rushed off in the direction of riverclan.
What about skyclan?
Aspenpaw dashed off towards skyclan camp. She heard numerous cats yowl out her name, and that she needed to come back. She then saw a patrol inside the skyclan border, Vixenstar in the lead.
"Vixenstar! I-"
"come to trespass and play on our territory again?" A small tom asked.
"No! Thunderclan camp is on fire! I wanted to warn you in case it spread!" Aspenpaw explained. Vixenstar looked at the apprentice through narrowed eyes.
"That is very noble of you." Vixenstar dipped their head. "I'm surprised a thunderclan cat warned us about some danger. I'm assuming oakstar didn't send you. Lynxshadow, maybe, but not oakstar." Aspenpaw nodded.
"I came here myself."
"What's your name, young'un?" Asked a mattered cream she-cat.
"Um, aspenpaw."
"An apprentice! How long you been one?"
"About a quarter, maybe half a moon." Aspenpaw explained.
"I think your ready to be a warrior." Vixenstar spoke this time. "Well, you best get back to your clan. I wish you well, Aspenpaw." Aspenpaw ran back to besides speckletuft.
"Where've you been, kiddo."
Wouldn't you like to know, father.
