Det. Jefferson had told Nick and me that we couldnt just fly Angie down, without any strong evidence. But we could ask her for a statement, which she has sent. It has just come in and Im on my way to the police station to examine it with Nick and Det. Jefferson. But, first hot chocolate milk with cream. Good afternoon, Ms. What may it be? Hi. 2 hot chocolate milks with cream, please. Oh, to go. I smile at the man behind the counter. On its way. I wait patiently for my order, when I spot Austin sitting at a table. He spots me too and waves. I wave back with a smile on my face. Here you go. Have a nice day. Thank you.

You too. I take the carton from the man and walk over to Austin.

Hey, what are you doing here? I was just simply in the mood for cake. He laughs. Oh, well its too bad I cant stay then. I have to get to the police station. But, save me some cake alright? Will do. We share a kiss and say each other goodbye. With a glowing smile on my face, I leave the shop and get back on my way to the station.

Hey, there you are. Sorry, am I late? Oh, no. Of course not. What you got there? Wait, dont say anything Hot chocolate milk? Nick grins. I nod shyly and hand him his cup. Thanks. Next time its my treat. Oh, please. I already cant thank you enough that youre willing to reopen Jacksons case and put so much effort in it. He might not have said it right in my face, but I know Nick and I know that he must have been busy with this case more than hes willing to say. It cost a lot of effort to get a statement from Angie, and he had rearranged it within 2 days, while another cop would take weeks. You dont have to thank me. Its just Never mind. I frown at him, but let it be.

Alright then. Thank you for coming Ms. Erins. Jacksons parents still dont want to know anything about the reopening of his case. They think its all false hope and that we shouldnt push them into more pain. So, we let it go. Of course, once well have a prime suspect and enough evidence to go to court, well fill them in. But until then theyll only know what the news sites tell them. Its best for everyone, I think.

To you the honours, Nick. I say. Im too nervous to open it myself and I dont even know why. Maybe, because this could be the end of all. Of all the pain, all the tears and mostly, all the questions. He softly rips it open and takes out a letter. He clears his throat and starts reading the words out loud.

Dear Detective Davis, its with great honesty that I inform you on the fact that I have had nothing to do with the murder on Jackson Willoughby. Jackson was a great friend of mine and I would never think of a reason to end his life. Our fight that night was indeed about my love for him, but it was not the reason of his murder, because I didnt murder him. I told him I have loved him for a thousand years, and I would love him for a thousand more. Of course, he wasnt in love with me, but with that bloody girl Sybil who had been his childhood lover. Or so I thought, because apparently he had been cheating. Turns out that even Sybil wasnt good enough for him. Nick pauses and has a look at me. Tears are waiting to be dropped, but I wont let them. You can continue. I whisper. You sure? he whispers back. I nod.

Theres one person, though, I had seen with Jackson that night. Also, at the party of course. Ava Berkshire. Apparently, Jackson was not in a nice mood that night, because he had also been in a discussion with Ava Berkshire. Sybil Erins must know her, they were classmates as was I. So, maybe you should investigate that. Greetings, Angela Fitzpatrick.

Angie was always such a sophisticated person, so her language in this letter doesnt surprise me. The message in it does. Whos Ava Berkshire? As Angie mentioned, she was a classmate of us. I didnt really talk to her since she was one of the more popular girls. And you werent? Nick asks surprised. Definitely not. You had Ava Berkshire, Deirdre Falls and Tana Beckers. They were the popular girls. Not that I wanted to be one of them, though. I didnt care for any of it. Plus, there were always rumours beings spread around them, like; how Tana would have lost her virginity to her brother, or how Deirdre would have had an affair with a married, rich and successful businessman. Wait. Were those rumours ever confirmed? Det. Jefferson asks. I shake my head. All of them denied everything, always.
