"So, son. Do explain yourself." Mr. Carvalli breaks the silence. Lorenzo starts talking about the events of Mr. Brew his class and how and why we had been removed from it. His father leans back in his chair and crosses his arms. "It's the second day, Lorenzo. I heard you were also late at Art class, yesterday, and that you didn't even show up at your History class." Lorenzo mumbles something under his breath. "What was that?" his father asks. "I wanted to take a cigarette, is that so bad?" he asks while putting up his hands, to imaginary defend himself as if he is in a gun fight or so.
"It is, if it's during school. We talked about this many times before. You know I'm not fond of you for smoking at all, but smoking during times you are supposed to be in classes, is forbidden. If I catch you doing that one more time, you have a huge problem, son." I can almost feel the tension between the two of them and how Lorenzo does everything to keep himself from rolling his eyes.

"Can we go now? It's our first day, besides Sybil did nothing. I talked to her. Not the other way around." Lorenzo takes no time to wait for his father's respond and stands up from his chair. "You coming, Sybil?" I turn around to face him. I look back at his father. "Nah, I'm good. I don't need anyone to stand up for me. I got it from here." "Alright, whatever you wish for." Lorenzo makes a bow, smiles and exits the office.

After I have heard my punishment from Mr. Carvalli, I open the door to the hallway and see Lorenzo waiting for me, while leaning against the wall. "There you are miss I-Can-Do-Anything-Myself." I roll my eyes. We start to walk back in the direction we came from. "And, what's your punishment?" He asks. "Detention. I have to clean the canteen this afternoon, after school." "That's all? Dang, my old man is getting soft." "He can't be that bad." I smile at him. We reach my lockers and I switch my books.
"Oh yes, he can and he will. Be careful, Sybil, the man might just have an eye on you." He winks. I roll my eyes laughing and close my locker. "Yeah sure, that might be it, indeed. But, who knows? If he has a lot of money, I will think about it." "I didn't take you for a golddigger, Erins." I shrug. "You don't know me at all-" I bring my mouth close to his ear and whisper, "but soon your dad does." After, I wink at him. "God, why did you have to say that. Gross." He shudders and laughter burst out of my mouth.
We start to walk again and silence takes over. "You need to go to your locker too?" "Yeah, I need to get my books for English." I nod and I follow him by turning another corner.

All of a sudden Lorenzo stops in his traces and I almost bump into him. "Sorry, but I just realised something." He turns around to face me, looking all serious. "What?" I ask him curiously. "If you were to date my dad, you would become my stepmother..." My eyes widen. "You're right." I whispered. Then, after a moment, we burst out into laughter.
Lorenzo opens his locker and changes his books, then before he turns around to face me, he closes it. "Alright, that's enough. It's too gross to talk about. Please promise me that you will never EVER will date my dad. Not even a kiss." Oh I was definitely planning on never doing that.
"I promise." I smile and he returned it. "Great. Come on, let's go. Where to?" "Classroom 108." He puts his arm around me and we start to walk again.

School ends and for me that means; time for detention. How nice, I think by myself. I report myself to the janitor and he gives me a few tasks to do the next 2 hours. I sigh and take over the mop from him and the empty bucket.
"So, I'll leave in half an hour. I guess you're old and wise enough to lock the classrooms yourself. Just leave the keys at the reception when you're done." Yeah sure because I'm totally not the new girl or something. I nod. He gives me a set of keys and pats me on the shoulder.

Half an hour later, the janitor; Dan, tells me he's leaving and exits the classroom. A gust of wind flies past me. I look up to search for open windows but I find none. Weird. I keep cleaning one of the many tables with a wet rag. The church bells strikes 5 times insinuating that it's 5 O'clock. One more hour.
It feels like someone's watching me. Every now and then I hear a few noises, sounds that makes me think there's another person in the room. Then, I look up once more but still I see no one else...

"Hey." In shock, I turn around fast and let the rag fall in the bucket of water, that I had placed on the ground. It's Lorenzo. "Jeez. You scared the hell out of me." I tell him and I place my hand on my heart. He laughs hard, but nice.
"Don't be so dramatic, Erins. I came to help you, since it's part of my fault that you're here now." He tells me and he scratches the back of his neck.
"Oh... Thanks. I'm almost done cleaning, but I also need to empty the trash cans of this classroom and the one next door and put all the chairs on the tables." I sigh. "Pff... Alright. You continue cleaning and I'll take out the trash." "Okay, thanks. Again." I smile at him and he returns it. "Anytime. Especially, since you promised me you would never date my dad." Smiling, I roll with my eyes and throw my rag at him. He throws it back and I barely catch it.

Lorenzo returns from the trash cans and start picking up chairs and puts them on the table. I sneak behind him quietly, and with my rag still full of dirty water, I squeeze the rag above his head. Water splashes against his hair and upper body. With an amused smile he turns around. For a second I don't know why he's so amused, but then he takes a nearby bucket with water and throws it over me before I can get away. Shit.
He storms after me as I try to pick up another bucket and tackles me to the ground. Ouch. "Oh, jeez. Did that hurt?" He asks sincerely. "A bit but I'm okay." I smile to reassure him. Then, another smile creeps upon his face and he starts to tickle me.

"Nohooo... LORENZO!! Stoohoop iiit! LORWHAHAENZO." I can't hold back the tears that start to run down my cheeks because of all the laughter. He stops and pins my arms above my head. "Well, you got me Cowboy." I whisper with a laugh. He doesn't respond, instead he comes closer and looks me deep in my eyes. "What?" I mumble. "Nothing." He says after a heart beat and he picks himself off the ground again.

He reaches out to me and I take his hand to pick myself off, too. "Let's put those chairs on the tables and leave the hell outta here." He takes a random chair and put it on another random table.
After half an hour, we also had to clean everything up from our water fight, we're done and we can finally leave. My shirt is still sticked on my chest because of the water earlier and I let out a sigh. "Alright, let's go." I announce.

I take my bag on the way out, as well does Lorenzo. I close the door of the classroom behind us and take the keys with me. I look up and I stare in Lorenzo's eyes. I smile, "Thanks for helping me out." "Anytime, you know that." he winks. Despite my efforts, my cheeks turn bright pink. He notices, grins but leaves it. Thankfully. "I need to go, I have a lot of homework to do. Plus, I should probably take a shower before dinner." I tell him gesturing to my wet and dirty hair and clothes. "Oh, okay. I guess I'll see you tomorrow at Psychology?" I nod to answer him and make my way towards the stairs. I take the stairs downwards, walk to the reception and drop the keys on Mary's desk. Then, I turn around again to go upstairs again.

Well, maybe Lorenzo isn't a creep... Oh shit, now I forgot to ask about the party. Oh well, Austin said it would be fine.

I unlock my room and my phone bleeps, telling me I have received a notification. It's from Instagram. L_carvalli2001 started following you. My finger pressed on the follow-back button and I looked through his profile. Photos of him and his friends, including Austin, photos with his parents, his grandpa and some vacation photos. I press on a photo with Austin.
The photo looks like it has been taken at some vacation, a few years ago. The caption reads a few emojis such as a typical sun and a glass of beer and a friends emoji. If I didn't know better, Austin and Lorenzo could almost be family if you would see this picture.
I press on the photo to see who's tagged. A few names pop up, but my eyes have only interest on the instagram name of Austin. @/Austinalia_B
Jeez, how dorky, yet cute.

I decide to follow him as well and with that I turn my phone off and make myself ready for dinner.

Hi!
I want to thank you for reading until this far already! I know there isn't much drama or so in it yet, BUT there will be lots of drama for you to come! Please, be patient, sit tight and hold on for the next few chapters and then it will get more fun and more dramatic! I just want you to get to know every character clearly before it gets messy, because it WILL get messy. (Especially towards the ending ;))
Until then, I hope you won't push this book to the side ;)
Thanks again for reading the book until here.
-Xoxo.
