Chapter 11

Mark was here. In this exact spot I'm standing on. He was here. Or his ghost was. But now he's not. I run into the sweet shop, the one Mark came out of.

"Who was that guy?" I demand from the one and only cashier.

"Who was who?" he arrogantly asks me back.

"The guy that just left," I say, impatiently.

"No guy just left."

"I saw him leave," I say more harshly.

"You must be seeing things," he says, and give me a huge grin. I give him a cold stare, irritated at this childish man, no, boy. Now that I look at him properly, I see how childish he really is, grinning at me while chewing on his bubblegum rather annoyingly.

It annoys me that he could be right about me seeing things. He could be telling the truth while I seem like a crazy person.

About to storm out, I realise that I'm about to have a sleep over and I have no junk food. I grab a basket and walk to the back and take a six pack of coke. I then walk over to the chocolate isle and get anything I can get my hands on. And finally I see a pack of six mini cupcakes and get 2 of those, knowing Eric will eat a whole pack himself.

Checking the time, I realise the bus to go home will arrive soon so I force myself to go to the annoying cashier to pay for everything. He doesn't say anything, except smiles at me and chews his bubblegum loudly. He totals everything and tells me the price.

I give him the money and while waiting I say, "You shouldn't chew your bubblegum like that, or a fly might just go in."

"The shop is clean, there aren't any flies here," he smirks and chews even louder.

"And here I thought flies were attracted to garbage like you." He looks at me unfazed, with a grin on my face, and I feel relieved he doesn't take me seriously. He hands me my change and I hastily take it, ready to leave.

He give me one last grin before deciding to blow a huge bubble in my face, knowing it will anger me.

But rather than letting my rage get the best of me, I see an opportunity for revenge. Once his bubble is big enough to cover the tip of his nose, which is pretty big, I pop it with my finger.

I laugh seeing the gooey mess on his face. He no longer has a happy grin, but rather an annoyed expression. And this pleases me more than anything.

"Good luck getting it off your face," I looked at his name tag, "Tony," I add sweetly before blowing him a kiss and walking out the store.

Luckily I had finished all my homework and cleaned up a bit because Rena ended up coming much earlier than we discussed. Not that I minded.

"And then he said, "I'm so sorry, baby, I never meant to hurt you," so I slapped him and then threw my drink on him before swearing him in front of his parents and my parents. My parents were so embarrassed that we ended up leaving early after giving a large sum of money," Rena said, telling me the story of how she and Grant broke up. Turns out he was cheating on her. "But," she continued, "I was kinda glad we broke up."

I gave her my best poker face,"All that for a guy you didn't want to even be with?"

"Well," her face started getting a bit red, "there is someone I might like... just a teeny weeny bit."

"Ooooh., guuurrl, you better tell me," I said in my best ghetto voice.

"Uurm, well, don't get mad, but I may have a crush on urgf brofher," she muffled the last two words with a pillow. I knew exactly what she said, and I was completely fine with it, but I just wanted to make her squirm a bit.

"Errr, a crush on who?" I asked in my most convincing confused face.

"Urff broffer," she once again muffled the words.

"Who?"

"ERIC!" she screamed, and I gave a knowing smile to let her know I wasn't angry at her.

A few seconds later a baffled Eric entered the room. He looked at us.

"Yes?" he said.

Rena and I looked at each other before bursting out into laughter.
