Damian
My brows knit together seeing the caller ID, my hand hovered over the phone momentarily as I hesitated and contemplated on whether I should answer it or not. Why was she calling me? Had she forgiven me? Had she actually listened to my relentless voicemails? Did she want to figure things out? Did she miss me like I missed her?
I grasped the phone, pressing the green button. "Adrianna?" I whispered, thinking it was too good to be true.
"Damey." A quiet cry on the other side of the phone had me sitting up straight in my chair.
"Isa, angel, what's wrong?" I spoke softly.
"Why the hell would you come back here?!" I heard a shout and this was clearly from an angry sounding Adrianna.
I could imagine little Isa flinching in the corner as I could hear a sniff from the other side of the phone, "they're s-shouting. Everyone is s-shouting." She whispered, "I'm scared Damey." I could hear a small cry from the other side of the phone and my heart broke hearing this.
"Hey, hey no angel. It's okay Isa, listen to me okay?" I spoke soothingly as I rushed out of the office, not saying a word to anyone. I gestured my driver away from the car and hooked up the phone to my speaker as I quickly began the car towards her home. The sound of Isa'a heavy breathing and small cries filled my car, making me step on the gas pedal even harder. I needed to get to her quickly.
"No! You don't deserve to be in her life!" I could hear in the background.
"Dameeey, I'm scared." Her voice and her cries were muffled.
"Listen to me angel." I spoke softly, trying to soothe her, "it may seem scary right now but, your sister is just angry and she's your sister Isa okay? She won't let anything happen to you trust me. That's what she's there for darling. She won't let anything happen to you."
"She won't?"
"She won't." I reassured her. "Adrianna is like a superhero? She'll always protect you no matter what angel." I bounded up the flat stairs until I got to her room. "Come and open the door for me darling." I spoke quietly as I could hear the shouts. The door stiffly opened as I slide my phone into my pocket. I bent down to Isabella's height and she smiled through her tears, shakily wrapping her arms around me. I picked her up, holding her close to me as she tightened her arms around me too scared to let go. "It's okay angel, I've got you." I shut the door and entered the living space, pausing upon seeing two people that shared similar looks to the both the girls I knew but, seemed extremely older.
The shouting stopped temporarily as Adrianna stared at me wide eyed. "I apologise for intruding," I gave the family a small nod, "you must've forgotten sweetheart I'm taking Isa out with Jax." I spoke gently but, with tones of assertiveness trying to hint at what I was trying to do.
"O-oh god yes." She nodded quickly and turned away from who, I assumed were her parents and mouthed a 'thank you' to me. I smiled at her softly and just as I was about to turn around I heard a shrill shout.
"Wait a minute!" I turned around slowly, raising a brow at the woman. "My daughter isn't going out with some stranger!" So she was the mother then. I kept my judgements about her sunken deep because I didn't know everything, Adrianna hadn't told me about her mother at all but, from what I knew she had fucked up my girls far too much and I certainly didn't like that.
"Oh sorry, Mrs Romano I assume?" I reached out my hand to shake hers, unable to make any other gestures as I held Isa. The dark haired, dewy skinned woman nodded, cautiously staring at my hand before shaking it piously. "Where were my manners?" I flashed her a pearly white dazzling smile, "I'm Damian Lockwood-"
