'Noooo!!!' Timothy screamed and was about to reach out when he felt a pair of strong arms pull him away.
'Do you have a death wish or something?! I know life can be boring but that's extreme even for you'.
'Let me go! I need to save her! She fell! Didn't you see...'
'Snap out of it! Who fell?!'Timothy stopped shouting and looked into the eyes of the person holding him back. It took a few seconds before his brain was able to register the face of his friend Chituru.
'Didn't you see her?' Timothy said rubbing his face, clearly agitated.
Chituru said nothing as looked at his friend. He had come all the way here, wondering if he'll be able to convince Timothy to have a night out with him only to come in and find the TV on and Timothy nowhere to be seen. It took him a while of moving from room to room and screaming his name before he found him in the verandah about to fall. He had never been more scared in his life. He thought Tim was drunk (even though knowing Tim, that's a long stretch) but he preferred it was alcohol than a woman.'Who's this woman you keep talking about?' Chituru asked carefully.
Tim who was pacing the verandah stopped to look at him before he looked away and answered, 'I... I actually don't know who she is'.In an effort not to seem stupid he added quickly, 'She refused to tell me who she was... or more like, she ignored my question'. He mumbled under his breath. If Chituru heard him, he didn't know know but he was thankful when Chituru didn't ask any more questions.
'You say she fell'. Chituru said, walking towards the railing and looking down.
'Oh God yes! We need to call an ambu...' the words trailed off as he looked down and saw nothing.
'I swear I saw her jump!'
'Jump?'
No! Fall! Stop confusing me!'Timothy turned away and scratched his head. The beginnings of a headache were coming on.
'Chituru you got to believe me. I saw this beautiful lady, this beautiful creature who had the most beautiful violet blue eyes I had never seen'.
Chituru said nothing but kept looking at his friend.
'Maybe you were dreaming'.
'Damn it! It wasn't a dream. She was so real...felt so real and alive'. Then he turned back and looked over the railing and saw nothing, absolutely nothing and almost wished her body was actually on the floor if not anything so he won't seem stupid. He sighed to himself, resigned.'I have some leftover spaghetti and sauce if you're hungry'.
Understanding his friend's need for a change of topic, Chituru just nodded his head and walked Tim towards to door. Just as Chituru was about to close the door behind them, he perceived the sweet smell of something soft and flowery and sweet but before he could register it, it was gone.
'Great! Now he's got me smelling things'. He said shaking his head as he closed the door, leaving the veranda.
