The trio made their way down main street arms linked like a daisy chain, if anyone was to see them walk by it would be like not a day had passed since the two teenagers used to run around with pigtails and dungarees. As they got to the large glass window of Doose's Market, Rory hesitated and peeked through the glass. Noelle rose her styled brows at the other girls odd behaviour and joined her in glancing inside.
"What are you looking for?" Noelle asked as she stood on her toes to see if she was missing something.
"What? Me? Nothing. I wasn't looking at anything." Rory quickly exclaimed her voice lowering towards the end of her sentence.
"Is Dean working tonight?" Lorelai asked with a hinting lilt in her voice as she winked to Noelle.
The blonde excitedly grabbed her friends arm and hastily asked, "who's dean?"
"He's- he's no one, he's a friend kind of."
"A friend? Does she blush this much when she talks about me?" Noelle teased, directing her question to Lorelai.
"You know I don't believe she does." The mother replied with a cheeky grin.
"Guys come on." Rory quietly whined as she looked at the pair.
"So what makes this Dean such a good friend?" Noelle asked Rory this time. Noelle and Lorelai wore matching mischievous smirks and had sharp sparks to their eyes. Rory squinted at the pair and pointed to them, "I don't like you two together." Rory stormed into the market followed closely by Noelle and Lorelai who had erupted into giggles. The trio continued their joking as they made their journey around the store before Rory stopped frozen in her tracks as they walked to the tills. Noelle bumped into Rory's back and nearly dropped her armful of snacks before glancing at the girl to make sure she was okay. Noelle followed her intense stare to a sweet faced boy with brown hair framing his features.
Noelle let out an audible gasp, "that's Dean, isn't it?" An excited grin took over her face and she didn't wait for Rory's reply. "He's dreamy. Let's go." Noelle's enthusiastically bounced over to Dean's checkout before Rory could grab her.
"Hi!" She chirped with a bright grin.
Dean looked up at the new voice and smiled back at the blonde, "hi."
Lorelai and Rory soon joined Noelle's side and Dean's eyes were immediately drawn to the small brunette.
"Rory, hi." She said with a charming smile.
"Oh umm hey Dean." Rory mumbled out with pink cheeks.
"Hi Dean." Lorelai mused with a large smile, similar to that of Noelle's.
Noelle was amused by the excessive amount of greetings and decided to cut the uncomfortable silence.
"So are you new to Stars Hollow?" She asked, not recognising his face or name from her time in the town.
"Umm yeah, just moved here a few months ago from Chicago. So do you go to school together?" Dean asked as he nodded towards Noelle's uniform.
"Oh yeah, but I actually used to live here, so I know Rory from when we were kids."
"Oh that's cool." Dean looked towards Rory, "must be nice to have at least one person you know at your new school."
"Yeah, yeah. It's really nice."
"Okay well, the couch is calling me so we better run. It was so NICE seeing you Dean."
The trio left the market with Rory's face still matching the colour of Noelle's favourite lip gloss."Wow, you suck at talking to boys." Noelle commented as soon as the store door closed, making Lorelai laugh and Rory whine. Lorelai rested her arm around Rory's shoulder and drew the girl closer as she said, "And I wouldn't want it any other way."
Just as the girls started to walk back in the direction of the house they heard a deep voice shout Lorelai's name, the deep tone caused Noelle to still and the smile was wiped from her face before she caught a glance at the baseball cap and flannel. Luke rushed to the Gilmore's and started asking for Taylor's whereabouts. Luke was mid rant before he caught sight of the Chilton uniformed blonde lingering to the side of the mother daughter duo. It only took a second before recognition flooded Luke's face and he spluttered out a surprised laugh, "Noelle?"
"Hi Luke." The blonde greeted with a somewhat timid smile.
Lorelai, sensing the young girl's discomfort, informed, "we're having a movie night, so if you could take your yelling elsewhere that would be great." She quickly herded the girls away before they could be interrupted by anyone else.Once back at the Gilmore home they had just about unpacked all their snacks when the pizza arrived. They sat down with the feast in front of them as they enjoyed classic romcoms before falling into sugar comas along the floor.
