Michael Monroe, the first of the twins to be born. I've always thought that being a twin means that you'd always have to look exactly like your partner and everything about the two would have to be in accordance. Unfortunately, Michael and Tyler put that analogy to shame. You see Michael has taken it upon himself to not only be my brother but also my father and tutor even though I go to school. He too like me is always either reading a novel or writing one, where as I seem to extend to writing poetry as well. He's smart and caring, always carrying that smile on his face with his good boy looks and charisma. The complete counter of his brother Tyler.
Tyler Monroe, sometimes it's hard to find words that can properly define Tyler and his personality. He's not a bad person, he just doesn't enjoy playing the good boy role so he's taken up the bad boy act. The perfect bad boy, he's even got his own bike, cliche right. But I guess the thing I like about him the most is his views and confidence. Tyler walks the streets like he doesn't care who the king is and holds himself in high esteem even though he has nothing to offer for it. He has his own views and is highly opinionated, truth be told, he just doesn't give two shits about what the world thinks of him. Tyler may not read books like Mikey and I, honestly he doesn't need to because Tyler was born a genius. Sometimes I think Michael is aware of this factor and that's why he's always reading so much.
We've arrived at the school's parking lot. Michael parks onto an unoccupied area and shuts the engine off. We do this everyday, it's a ritual. All three of us get out of the car and head towards the school's main entrance. While I'm simply walking, Tyler and Michael are acting the big brother role where they look threatening and try to ward off any evil spirit that may try to possess me and eat my liver from the inside. Those are Tyler's words not mine.
"Okay Katia do you have everything you need?" Michael asks appraising me with that look of his, I wonder, does he really think he can scare me? Sometimes I think the only one I'm actually afraid of is Tyler.
"You do realize that we literally do this everyday?" I ask just for the sake of it even though I know he's completely going to ignore the point of it. But good ole Tyler comes in saving the day once more, it feels as if he hates the lectures much more than I do.
"That's enough Mike I think she's gotten the hang of it." Tyler probes in silently scrutinizing the area before he finally settles his gaze on me. There's always been something about Tyler's eyes that intrigued me. Yes they're your everyday type of black, but it's the way that they look so vacant and transparent in the middle, almost as if you can see right through his soul. But that's the interesting thing, even though they're so open there are walls surrounding them accompanied by vines and shards of glass that'll leave you bleeding if you dare enter.
Michael looks like he's about to argue but Tyler beats him to it with a look that says "Do you really want to do this here?" and I think Michael gets the point. We all do and honestly I just want to get in there so that I can get this day over and done with. There's a scowl on my face, I know it and I don't bother to hide it. I grace my brothers with one more look and turn around for the main entrance, but I barely take five steps before I'm being pulled back by Tyler.
"We're not supposed to simply get what we want in this life kitten. Some are lucky enough getting it on a silver plate, others not so much. Just because your life isn't perfect doesn't mean that you aren't. Put a smile on your face and walk like you're the queen of the world, never put your head down."
He graces me with that smile of his that could light worlds up and caresses my face. Tyler isn't one to show emotions and when he does it's only ever really for my sake. He doesn't really say it much but he loves me, that's the one thing I can see in his eyes.
So I do as I'm told I smile, the real one for my brother and walk the ground like I'm the queen of the world with my head held high. It's like I said, Tyler doesn't need books, he was born a freaking genius.
