I wonder what my family would do if I decided to just bail on them and have the cake all to myself? Really it's a tempting offer considering they've called me about fifteen times about things that have nothing to do with me. Last I checked all I was asked to do was get the cake so why in the world are they calling asking about the food and drinks and God knows what else. I'm pretty sure the entire place is a mad house at the moment and I'm sure Tamara and Malcom wouldn't appreciate me eating all of their cake. If they can't have the perfect party they should at least have a cake.
So that's what I tell myself as I make my way over to Sarah's house and take in the sight. Mum, Sarah and Alyssa are up and about arranging the house with the food, Rashad and Anthony are moving stuff around while setting up the music and as usual Austin is seated eating. Why am I not surprised tell me somebody!
"Delivery!!" I holler at the last few steps but then immediately regret it as every set of eyes lands on me and then there's chaos.
"Thank God you're here, what took you so long?"
"You need to help me with the decorations I have no idea what to do."
"Do you have any idea when those damn cupcakes are going to arrive?" As they all complain simultaneously I make a funny face at them before speaking.
"Oh yeah no problem just lay it all on the party planner, yep just lay it all on me." I say and ma pulls my ear while Alyssa takes the cake.
"Now's not the time for you to be sarcastic." She scolds and I reply.
"But is there ever an appropriate time sweet mother of mine." She rolls her eyes at me then goes back to whatever it is she's doing.
"I need you to grab the kids and I mean all of them, give them a shower and have them dressed. People will be coming in about an hour." Sarah tells me and she really looks frustrated by the way.
"You need to chill before you get a stroke, Mira and Selena are coming over and they said they'd help okay." She breathes out her relief and looks more settled before turning back to me.
"Oh and you might want to take those clothes off before their shower." I snort out loud because isn't that the truth. I don't get why these children like to turn their bath time into battle field time, seriously they put the Viking wars to shame. I'm sure Odin would be glad to receive them in Valhalla.
I follow the screeching and screaming and see all four of them in Tamara's and Starr's bedroom and boy is it a mess. These kids make me doubt if I wanna have my own children, especially Tamara.
"Where are my favorite birthday people?" They all turn at my voice and make a direct beeline for me and in the next second we're all a heaping mess on the floor laughing.
"Took you forever sis, I been waiting on you since morning." Tamara complains sitting across my belly while the others surround me.
"Yeah we was waiting for you to come over so we could show you our dresses." Starr adds while King and Malcom nod their agreement.
"Well missy someone had to get the birthday cake right?" I ask and they all squeal and high five each other.
"We get to have cake."
"How big is it?"
"Can we like just eat it already?" King asks and I turn to him.
"If only you knew the number of times that thought crossed my mind, but then your mama would have a heart attack."
"She gon have one either way if she keeps yelling like that." Tamara states then climbs off of me.
"Don't matter anyways. So who wants to go first for their shower huh?" They all raise their hands and if past experience has taught me anything it's that you should never put all four of them in a bathroom together. But the look on their faces is so tempting I say screw experience and by the time we're done well let's just say it's going to take Sarah a while to clean the bathroom.
I put Tamara's hair in some fancy up-do I saw on YouTube and then put on her overly sparkly princess dress and a glass like heeled shoe to go along with it. Then lastly I put the crown atop her head then make her sit at a corner because lord knows five minutes into all of this and my hard work will all go to waste. Although Starr isn't the birthday girl she too gets similar clothes and shoes and I also make her sit and wait with her sister.
The boys are pretty simple as I put them in denim black jeans with their shirts but King insists on putting a hoodie on top and so a hoodie he gets. When I'm done I receive two messages one from Kayden saying he won't be able to make it because he has an extra shift to work but still wishes them a happy birthday and the other is from Mira informing me of their arrival.
Sending the kids on their way I go downstairs and get the girls and we set off to work. Since Sarah and Alyssa can't afford all of the perks of making a birthday party Miranda, Selena and I offered to serve and take care of the guests during their stay.
It wasn't anything fancy or big but it was still great, the kids had fun and were enjoying themselves. The only annoying part was when Austin would call Sarah every five minutes complaining that he was hungry or that she shouldn't serve all of the drinks and that she should save some food or that he wanted some cupcake and all that shit. Really the dude reminds me of a five year old, an annoying spoilt five year old. But what can I say, he ain't my man.
While Tamara and Malcom stand to receive their gifts Mira, Selena and I sit to take a breather. But it's quite short lived as Austin approaches us and I mentally groan while the girls slide me a look.
"Hey Katia."
"Hey Austin."
"Just wanted to say you girls did great tonight helping out and all."
"There's no need for that we were doing it for the kids."
"All the same, you should get something to eat."
"Nah we're gonna wait until the party's done, you know make sure the kids are full and satisfied. It is their party after all." I say sarcastically but knowing him, he's either too stupid to notice I insulted him or is just choosing to ignore me. He leaves shortly after that and thirty minutes later the party's over and the kids are out like a fuse.
We cleaned up as much as we could and then we all left for our various houses. Since Miranda brought her car, she dropped off Selena before going home. When the rest of us got home I went straight to my room, took a shower and was in my pajamas with the speed of the ninja turtles and when I hit the sack, I didn't wake up till morning.
