Beyoncé Knowles,

I walked downstairs and into the kitchen to see my mother wiping down the counters and the stove. Shawn is supposed to be having his meeting with my father in a couple hours and I just feel like I should sit down with my mother and talk to her about how I feel, especially because she was so sentimental the other day when Solange stuck up for him.

"Hey Mom," I spoke.

"Hey baby girl, how are you?"

"Good, um can I talk you for a sec?"

"Yeah, wassup?"

"Is Dad here?" I asked while taking a seat at the island.

"No! He's will be at the office until a little after three today." She replied. "Why? What's up?"

"I wanted to talk to you about the Shawn situation. You know what I'm talking about?"

"About your Dad having to make a decision?"

"Yeah." I nodded.

"What about it?"

"I don't know, it's just been on my mind a lot and as you know, my friends are friends with him so I'm pretty much around him every chance I step out. I just feel like Daddy shouldn't have to make the decision because of what his brother did. He's not the same." I told her.

She kept wiping things down, never giving me a reply.

"He's been working at that place for so long and now y'all are really contemplating on firing him when he simply does his work and go home to take care of his family. He's going through his own personal issues and he wants to take his job from him. He is literally such a sweetheart, but y'all only believe what comes out of your bullying ass sons' mouths. Why do y'all wanna do this to him?"

"Baby girl, you know it's not my decision. I feel like you are completely right in his defense and I'm not mad at you for doing that for him, but this is something you have to take up with your father. You know how he is about his business."

"I understand how he is, but firing someone just because you're afraid he's gonna do what someone else has done isn't right, especially when you haven't even taken the time to get to know him. I have! He's a great person. He's a great father, and he's a great friend."

She nodded, "I know cause you haven't been with a guy this much since we were back in Houston." She began to smirk.

I blushed a little.

"Stop, I'm serious, Mom."

"I'm serious, too. Look, listen." She said. "You obviously have feelings for him and we both know it's going to be hard to go against your father and your brothers' wishes, but you can only live your life for you. That is why I want you to get your own apartment and live your own life pleasing you, not them."

"I really appreciate that, Mom."

"I think you and Shawn are cute together. It's finally a boy who clearly doesn't want you for the material things. So you have my okay to be with him. All I ask is you be careful and use protection."

I smacked my lips, rolled my eyes playfully.

"We haven't even gotten that far yet. We haven't even made anything official. We just like to be together," I told her. "I really like him a lot and he's openly expressed the same thing back, but we're just taking it slow. I have to see how this job thing works out cause it might change his life."

"Well, you know what? Here's what I'll do." She said. "I have to go out and run a quick errand, but afterwards, I'll go his office and see if I can steer him in the right direction, okay?"
