XVI. Training For The Snake

Naruto stood among a demolished clearing, his red hair flowed in the wind as he held the demonic fox sword, he looked up and realized the sun was rising. He could hear footsteps walking but he didn't move, there was a voice that spoke behind him.

"We have a location, you'll move out with Shikamaru tomorrow." Naruto continued watching as the sun rise, making the sky a beautiful color.

"I'll stop by later to receive the coordinates." Naruto said and the woman nodded, leaving Naruto to his own thoughts that were usually filled with Hizuren death. Naruto let his sword head back to the Shinigami, and he calmed his chakra.

His training in three months improved him so much, he stood as the sun shined brightly in the sky, and he felt Shikamaru's chakra drawing closer to him. He knew that the old man was at peace, that he was fine, however he left Naruto.

The old man was a grandfather to him, he remembered when he was so young that he made the old man and Asuma sleep in the same bed because he didn't want to pick who's bed he wanted to sleep in. Memories liked that made his smile, and made him want to avenge the old man.

"You weren't in bed, come get some sleep, I know you were up all night." Shikamaru said yawning, and Naruto turned around. His red hair a little disheveled because Naruto had been out here since Shikamaru fell asleep, which was like 10pm.

"Yeah." Naruto kimono was a little dirty, Naruto walked to Shikamaru seeing that he was still in his pajamas and house shoes, knowing he was still sleepy seeing as it was only 7am.

"Your chakra seems that something finally clicked with last nights training session." Naruto nodded, ready to take this dirty clothes item off so he could shower, Shikamaru looked down as Naruto exhaled.

"Tsunade found his hideout, we move out tomorrow, but I said I'd see her later on today." Naruto said and Shikamaru nodded. They reached Shikamaru's home. They walked in and Shikaku seemed to be gone. Naruto immediately walked to the bathroom, Shikamaru yawned and headed back to bed.

Naruto came out, wearing Shikamaru's shirt and walking to see him sleeping again. Naruto only seemed to slide in next to him and kiss his cheek, he watched as Shikamaru's face scrunched and Naruto exhaled while inhaling his scent.

He was so thankful for the Nara.

"I'm not tired." Naruto whispered, and Shikamaru opened his eyes, he looked down at Naruto before sitting up and hovering above Naruto.

"I suppose I can indulge." Shikamaru said shrugging his shoulders, Naruto gave a small chuckle as their lips connected. Shikamaru started taking off his pajamas, and the shirt Naruto wore to expose both their bodies. Naruto moaned lowly into the kiss as he felt his body heat a little, he still shivered when Shikamaru touched, lick or bit on a sensitive area.

Shikamaru looked as he finally saw Naruto sleeping, and he looked so peaceful. Finally he saw a look that didn't want him to immediately annihilate the bastard that made Naruto shut him out for month, and the reason Naruto barely slept a wink the last three months, the reason Naruto seemed a little less in tune with his emotions.

He was so ready to have Naruto the way he wanted too, and that was with him snuggled up, after they made love or after a long and tired mission. This is what he wanted, and he had wanted it since they were nine. Would it be a little extreme if he proposed?

Probably.

However he would at least give him a promise ring or something, something to show that he was ready to settle down, so Shikamaru made a clone to find Asuma, looking out the window as he suddenly felt nervous, he turned back to Naruto to settle his nervous and set his resolve.

He was going to ask Asuma for Naruto's hand in marriage.

When he found Asuma, he was in the tower with Tsunade and Jiraiya. Shikamaru stood there and they all looked at him.

"What can we do for you Shikamaru?" Tsunade asked and Shikamaru bowed deeply before speaking.

"Can I please have Naruto's hand in marriage?" Silence filled the room, it was deafening. Tsunade held a small smile, while Jiraiya looked at Asuma. Asuma closed his eyes and smoked, walking towards his Genin. He placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Lift your head Shikamaru." Shikamaru did as he was told and was met with a smile, he relaxed and Asuma spoke.

"I wouldn't want anybody else marrying him, however, you both are sixteen, yes it's legal to marry now, but are you ready?" Shikamaru, clenched his fists before he spoke. 

"Naruto may not be the easiest to read, however I spent seven years decoding his looks, his comments, and his body language, his likes and dislikes." Shikamaru started before he continued.

"I want nothing more than to live my life with Naruto, have a few stubborn children that will inherit his beauty, and maybe even his personality disorder, I just want to be able to be by his side, for the rest of our lives." Shikamaru finished before Asuma looked to Shikamaru.

"Then I give you my full blessing." Shikamaru gave a lazy smile, as Asuma sighed. The clone Shikamaru poofed away, and Asuma looked to the Kage.

"I'll be leaving, thanks for keeping me updated." Asuma said as he walked out the office, Tsunade held a fond smile as Jiraiya spoke.

"Namikaze and Nara blood, those children will be smart, a Genius even." Jiraiya said and Tsunade nodded while looking at the village.

"If only Sensei was here to see the union, he loved that child like no other." Tsunade said and Jiraiya nodded.

Shikamaru blinked when the memory of his clone came, as he smiled, seeing how it was mid-day and Naruto was still sleep catching up on all the rest he missed, he cursed knowing he should've gotten the coordinates. He however sighed when he saw the Hokage's slug holding an envelope that looked to be important, she left as Shikamaru opened it to see a direct location to the snakes hideout, he nodded and kissed the forehead of Naruto's, watching as his chakra seemed to restore and muscles seemed to get stronger, and it helped that he sensed that Kurama was in the seal.

Naruto's eyes opened, as he saw the sunset, and he felt so much more relieved, he felt all the fatigue go away, and he was so much better just lying in Shikamaru's arms. He just contently laid in Shikamaru's arms as Shikamaru looked at the setting sun. He could feel Shikamaru run his hand up and down the back of Naruto and laced his other hands in the redhead hair.

Shikamaru was enjoying himself, even when the purring started. He thought he was crazy, he didn't have a cat, however he heard purring, and with was ear pleasing as the purr resembled a cat, completely and utter trust and enjoyment. He looked over and heard it was coming from his wife to be.

"How are you feeling?" Shikamaru asked and Naruto went to open his mouth, but a lovely purr escaped first, Shikamaru's eyes widened as Naruto spoke in between purrs.

"Purrrfect." Naruto said and Shikamaru leaned down to kiss Naruto, loving the way his purr made the kiss rumble a little. Shikamaru pulled away, looking at Naruto.

"You can purr." Naruto nodded, nuzzling into the neck of Shikamaru.

"I can, it's thanks to Kurama."

"Whatever, your mate seems to like it."

"Does it upset you?" Naruto asked worriedly and Shikamaru chuckled a little.

"Of course not, it's beautiful. You want takeout? Tsunade dropped of the coordinates when she realized it was getting late." Naruto nodded.

"Let's eat and move out in the middle of the night, we'll sneak up on him." Shikamaru nodded and went to grab Naruto's favorite, while Naruto looked over the area of the hideout.
