Jughead's POV
Wow, it's already new years eve! This year has gone by so fast. I still remember the start of this year like it was yesterday, Veronica was new to Riverdale, Archie's only problem in life was choosing between football or music, Betty had a crush on Archie and I was a weirdo and had massive crush on Betty.
*FLASHBACK (Jughead's POV)*
(A/N Betty and Jughead are in their 20's)
It's the start of 2019 and here I am, sitting in Pop's waiting for a certain blonde to enter, I have had a huge crush on Betty since like, forever, but the problem is that she likes my best friend, Archie Andrews. My thoughts are interrupted by the familiar bell, my head shoots up to see the one and only. Betty Cooper. A smile creeps onto my face but is slowly turned into a frown when I see tears streaming down her face, she looks around the diner franticly and we lock eyes. she comes towards me and she sits opposite to me. "Hey, thanks for coming." she says while wiping her tears away. "Yeah no worries, what's wrong?" I ask with a worried expression on my face. "I um I was getting ready for bed and I looked out my window and I..." she takes a deep breath, "I saw him kissing some girl." she says as more tears start falling. I sigh, "Come here." I say moving aside and patting the space next to me. She gets up and sits next to me, I put my arms out and she wraps her arms around me and hides her face into my chest, my arms around her securely as she cries into my shirt, probably getting it wet but I don't care. "Hey, it's his loss for not seeing how beautiful you are, there are plenty of guys out there who would be so lucky to have you, and if they don't see that then you don't deserve them, okay?" she doesn't say anything, just nods. After a few minutes of Betty crying she finally calms down, silence fills the booth until Betty breaks it, "What a great way to start the year." she says cause both of us to chuckle. "Thank you." she says again, "For what?" I look down at her and she looks up at me, I wipe her tears away. "For always being there for me, for dealing with me, for being my best friend." she puts her head back on my chest and snuggles closer to me. Soon a voice interrupts us, "Hey um, I came to pick up an order under the name 'Lodge'?" we hear and look to where the voice is coming from, there is a girl about our age that we've never seen before with raven black hair, standing in front of our booth talking to Pop. " Yeah, two burgers, a strawberry milkshake and a chocolate milkshake, your order will be ready soon" Pop says and makes his way back to the counter, she looks at us, "How are the onion rings here?" she asks us. "Amazing." I simply answer as Betty wipes her tears away and gets off my chest but I keep my arms around her, "Can we get some onion rigs to please?" she yells at Pop and turns back to us, "Thanks. My mom and I just moved here so," She says. "From where?" I ask. "New York. Veronica Lodge." she introduces herself. "Jughead Jones and this is Betty Cooper." she look at Betty, "Hi" Betty says with a fake smile, trying to be happy. Veronica then suddenly realises that Betty has been crying and then it's hits her that she interrupted the moment we were having. "Oh, I'm so sorry, did I interrupt something?" she says her face filled with embarrassment. "Oh no, it's okay." Betty says. "There you go, enjoy your meal." Pop says and gives Veronica her take-away bag. "Okay well I better get going, my mom's waiting for me but it was nice meeting you both." she says and walks out the door. Betty's head immediately falls back onto my chest, obviously still sad about Archie. "It's okay." I whisper in her ear.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
So much has changed since then, Veronica is now one of our closest friends, Archie now owns a gym called 'El Royal Fight Club' but it's been really hard since his dad died and that really broke him but his mom came from Chicago and is now taking care of him and also him and Veronica have been dating for like 7 months, Veronica owns Pop's diner now with her mom and she also owns a speakeasy called 'La Bonne Nuit', Betty is well over Archie because she has been with me for about like 2 months after she saw Archie kissing some random girl, she had figured out who the Black Hood was, which turned out to be her dad and we both figured out who the gargoyle King was and that turned out to be her fake brother and she is the Queen of the gang the SouthSide Serpents and as as for me, well I am with the girl of my dreams and we run a gang together as I am the King, me and Betty are also living together.
