Light’s POV
“C-Can we be…” I stopped myself before I can say something surprising for her. LOVERS?
Okay. In my dreams, that’s possible.
I saw her anticipation building up. She was waiting for the words to come right out of my mouth.
“Be…” I saw her expression changed. She became more tensed.
“F-Friends?” I said.
Man! What did I just say?!
To my dismay, she just laughed and looked away, gently pulling her hands away from me.
“Of course! For a second there, I thought you’re going to ask me to be your girl. Not that I was expecting it, of course, but your eyes told me you were about to say something similar to that. But sorry if I got my hopes up, you were even kind enough to offer friendship,” she handed out her hands to shake it with me.
Wait! She was expecting it? Did I look that obvious?! Man! What if I said the right word? Would she accept it? This is so killing me!
“We hadn’t formally introduced ourselves yet. I’m Heart, and I’m the daughter of this pastor’s town. How about you?” I looked at her hands. They were soft, and fragile, just like what I’ve known about them. I immediately handed out my hands and shook her hands.
Oh, how I love the feeling of holding her hands, even though it’s not the romantic thing, I’m still blessed to finally be able to hold her hands.
This is heaven!
“I’m Light, and I think you already know that. I’m Ice’s older brother and, well, my father’s the head pastor in one of the out-of-the-country branch,” I told her while smiling. She smiled back at me, and I suddenly felt the feeling of looking away from her again.
“Nice meeting you,” we both said in chorus, then we laughed at each other’s act.
Oh how I love the way she laughs. It sends butterflies in my stomach.
“Heart, uuwi na tayo--” I saw her dad come right out of the door and smiled at me. “I didn’t know that someone else’s here. Hi, Light,” his dad approached us and smiled at me. I feel so nervous right now.
Is this what you call “Meet the Father”? I’m not ready for this!
“Hello, Sir,” I slightly bowed my head and smiled at him, too.
“Uwi na tayo?” Heart asked in--
I think they’re now speaking in their native language. I just can’t understand them. My jaw is literally dropped open wide.
“Oo, palabas na ‘yon si Mom mo…”
“Sige po…”
I CAN’T UNDERSTAND THEM!
“Oh sorry, Light. We need to go now. Catch you later!” Then she waved at me and they went downstairs. I looked at them as they go down and I saw Heart waving at me before they went inside a jeepney. I waved back at her.
I'm gonna miss her. It’ll be another year before I'll get to see her again. Sucks to be living in a different country from her. But anyway, I’ve finally got the chance to be close to her even for just a minute or two. Improvement.
“They already left, so what are you still smiling about? Did something good happen? I saw her waving at you down there,” he paused then wore a teasing smile. “Light…” Blaze was teasing me. I just answered him with a smile then I went inside.
