Halloween

My hands where shaking like crazy as I slowly approached the house.
Children were running pass me, not to get any sweets, but to watch all the decorations with amazement. It's a few hours till it really starts with the whole trick or treating and I was kind of nervous. It's been years since the last time I ever celebrate this holiday, my favourite one.

I didn't want to ruin this special day because of my moody personality.
I never was that moody when I was little...but after what happened, how can anyone judge me.
I reached the steps of the house where I'm going to take care of the lovely children for 1 week.
I never planned to stay this long, but the parents really needed to sort some things out so I said, that I didn't mind it at all.

I grew confident as my finger pressed the doorbell. I waited for a few seconds as finally the woman opened the door and immediately smiles at me.

"Good evening, you must be the babysitter" She said and opened the door completely "please come in."

I felt my cheeks blush, I was kinda getting nervous now and hoped that she didn't notice that.

"Thank you for looking after my two baby's, it's really hard to leave them for a whole week...I will call every day, which leads me to your instructions while you're here." She nicely said and got something out of her book.

"I wrote everything you need to know down on this paper, so that you don't need to ask...there is even writen down, what they can't eat, because of their allergies."

"I think I can handle it, you can trust me that they will have a good time with me and that you don't need to worry about a thing." I said as she handed me the paper and I looked through all the instructions.

"I know you can, you spread a nice aura in this room, I trust you."

I couldn't help but smile, it was really nice to know, that she didn't think of me as a rude or disgusting human being...well it would have been awkward if she would have thought like that.

"You must be (Y/n), right? I'm Charles." A deep voice said next to us which caught me of guard. The man extended his hand for me to shake which I gladly took.
"That's me, it's nice to meet you."

He nodded his head and then his eyes looked down to his watch.
"We have to go now, I hope that you enjoy your stay and that you keep an good eye on our little monsters, if they don't listen to ya....just tickle them, works every time." He said smirking and walked to the front door to get his jacket.

"I will remember that." I responded laughing and folded the paper so I could put it in my bag.

"You can sleep in our guestroom, the bed is already made. Just go upstairs and you will be able to find it, it even has a little shield in front of the door."

I nod, symbolizing that I understood what she was saying.

"The kids are at school, they will be back any minute now. We already said our goodbyes to them. Money is in the jar at the kitchen and-" but before the woman could continue her husband already pulled her to the door "I think she knows my dear, we have to get going now. We will see you next week." Charles said laughing and waved at me.

"Take care!" I said and walked towards the door.

"Thank you and please watch over my babys. "

I laughed "don't worry, they are in good hands."

They waved one last time before their car left the driveway. I closed the door and looked around the house before I realised that I was on my own now...was I?
