mark knows exactly the kind of guy that jaebeom lim is. he needs someone to put him in his place. he's too cocky, not that he doesn't have a reason to. he's hot.

girls want jaebeom. jaebeom gets straight guys in his bedroom. he's enticing, always glowing with confidence and getting exactly what he wants. and that's what gets to his head.

mark tuan can see it. he wants to deal with jaebeom's attitude.

mark is someone that people don't mess with. he doesn't talk to many people other than his fairly small group of friends but he pays pretty close attention to things going on around him.

it's at a party when mark first sees jaebeom. the elder is sitting on a couch, a blunt between his fingertips and his best friend sitting on his lap to avoid a guy who wouldn't leave him alone.

jaebeom isn't flirting. he's being flirted with. this time it's jackson wang. he's friendly, but not this friendly. jackson has his arm on the wall, partly caging jaebeom in.

"i don't even get why people like jaebeom so much," bambam scoffs, watching the smirk that jaebeom gives jackson as he tugs on the football player's letter jacket.

"you do the same thing, idiot," mark says but it's in a fond way because bambam is sensitive and will get sad if he thinks mark is serious.

"i'm cuter," bambam says, crossing his arms. he yelps when mark moves bambam off his lap but just crosses his arms across his chest.

"you need a boyfriend, bam," mark tells him, "you can sit on someone else's lap."

"boys are dumb, markie."

mark knows why bambam is hesitant to get a boyfriend and he understands. dating bambam was like a trophy to guys, they like to show him off and use him until they got bored. no one respected bambam and it makes mark angry because bambam is the sweetest boy in the world.

"yeah," mark says with a sigh, bringing his hand up to play with some hair on bambam's head because his arm is over the side of the couch anyway.

the second time he really notices jaebeom, it's because they have a class together and they just happen to be assigned as partners for a project.

mark watches as jaebeom stands from his desk and walks over to mark's.

mark has always been a confusing person. he's popular but he doesn't talk to anyone other than his best friend. he's just well known. he's also really hot, and there are very few people in their school that would disagree. he goes to parties but just smokes and stays to himself.

"i'm jaebeom," he introduces as he sits down in the chair that mark had reached over and pulled closer to him so they could work together.

"mark," is all mark says as he acts like he reads the rubric for the project but he's not. he's just staring at the paper.

"can i call you markie?" jaebeom asks and mark can hear the smirk in the way he talks. and he doesn't let jaebeom's flirting affect him.

"if you want." mark finally looks up and at jaebeom. "do you wanna do the research or design the board or whatever?"

jaebeom frowns to himself but answers that he can do the poster board and goes the grab the board that their teacher is providing, along with some markers from the back of the classroom.

mark doesn't ignore jaebeom, he answers everything the younger says to him or asks him, he just doesn't ask jaebeom questions and doesn't say more than he wants to. he answers things simply and doesn't add on.

and jaebeom isn't happy about the lack of attention. he's good at getting attention from guys but mark just doesn't seem to care and he's not used to it.

"markie, do you want to come to my house to work on the project?" jaebeom asks as they start putting things away. most of class, jaebeom has been pouting because he's genuinely confused about why he can't get mark to give him the attention he wants.

"sure. meet me by the front doors after school. i have to take bambam home."

they meet at the front doors. bambam is there, holding onto mark's arm, confused as to why they're stopping by jaebeom.

"give me your address. i'll be there after i drop bambam off."

jaebeom has never had someone speak in such a monotone tone with him all the time. mark's deep voice only makes it seem that much more harsh. but it only makes jaebeom want to try that much harder.

jaebeom nearly runs to the door when he heard a knock on it. but he waits a few seconds, making sure he doesn't seem too excited to let mark into his house.

mark doesn't say anything when jaebeom leads him into his bedroom. they just sit on the bed where jaebeom already has the stuff they need for their project out and ready to use.

it's almost an hour of working when jaebeom finally stops what he's doing and throws his hands down into his lap. it gets mark to look up at him but he doesn't show much emotion on his face. that's normal though. it's what makes him so enticing to people.

"why won't you pay attention to me. i can get anyone, why not you?" jaebeom whines, pouting subconsciously as he waits for mark to answer him. he pouts just a bit more when he sees mark smirk.

mark leans closer to jaebeom. "you're too cocky. you can't get everything you want, baby boy."

jaebeom whines more, aggressively picking up his pen to continue writing on their poster board.

mark chuckles just barely loud enough for jaebeom to hear, shaking his head as he looks back down at the worksheet he's filling out for their project.

the third time jaebeom and mark interact, it's very intentional. jaebeom admittedly follows mark to the bathroom during class and stands in front of him, arms crossed against his chest and a pout still on his lips.

"such a pouty little boy," mark teases, "are you upset with me?"

"yes. i like you, stupid."

mark chuckles and reaches a hand out to touch jaebeom's chin. "wanna hang out tonight?"

jaebeom can't believe it as he walks up to mark tuan's house. he's beyond excited despite having no idea how the night is going to go.

but it definitely goes well considering the fact that the first thing that mark does when they get to his room is push jaebeom against the door and finally kissed him.

"had to teach you some patience, baby."
