Two Worlds Collide (Titanfall x Darling in the Franxx)

The Briefing

"WHO THE HELL IS THAT?"

As the door opened, (Y/n) took in three descending rows of seats fulled in by a bunch kids who looked about the same age as him. Some of them he recognized but there were a lot of new faces to him. All of them were staring at him with intense, interrogative eyes that started to make him feel a little uncomfortable.

"Hiro, who is that guy standing beside you?" one of the girls asked politely.

"Oh! uh, everyone, this is (Y/n). He's one of the two we piloting the Franxx we brought back."

"Hi... um, thanks for picking me and my- uh, friend... up the other day." said (y/n), introducing himself.

Suddenly the short boy with hazel coloured hair who yelled out first jumped to his feet,

"This is the guy I saved? for someone piloting such a cool looking franxx, i thought you would be better looking!" exclaimed the small boy again.

"um... excuse me?"

"Shut up Zorome, I'd rather a cuter boy like him than you!" 

"What?!" 

this remark earned a few laughs for the audience.

(y/n) wasn't quite sure but, was he just complimented by some girl he's never met?

Um, thanks?... 

"So where did you come from?" 

"Uh, well...-" (y/n) didn't know how to answer that question without inviting further questioning but he was saved by the sudden entrance of the man and nurse he remembered from the hospital room.

Does that mean... 

"Alright everyone we're starting this briefing for the upcoming kissing operation off right away with... a small announcement."

The nurse's eyes drifted from the seats up the stairs and stopped right at (y/n).

"Do you all remember the two pilots we recovered two days ago?"

this seemed to catch everyone's attention. 

"Well, you've met one already," she said, gesturing towards the door at the back of the room, where (y/n) stood. 

"again, hi..."

"I'd like you all to welcome the other of the pair," she began, but before she could continue there was an explosion of loud whispers as everyone wondered aloud.

"Alright quiet down, please." She waited for the room to be silent again before she continued. "let me introduce you to-....''

At the back, the nurse's words were drowned out by (y/n)'s thoughts. 

I wonder what she was doing while she was gone. She isn't mad that I left her alone like that... right?

he felt his heartrate rise slightly in anticipation, he didn't realize it yet, but after spending hours exploring the unfamiliar environment he wanted to see her again. 

Slone was at the door, waiting for Nana to call her in. She didn't want to admit it, but she was anxious. She couldn't stop thinking about him. mostly she was wondering if he was safe, even if in her mind she knew, based on his skill in combat that he was more than capable of taking care of himself. 

"Slone if you could enter please." From behind the door, she heard the words she'd been waiting for.

Slone took a breath as the door opened and walked into the room. Instantly, all the eyes in the room were on her, but she didn't really care. you tend to get used to these things when you're the only human girl mercenary in an entire army. No, more important to her were the eyes at the very back of the room.
