023 - VANILLA BOY
바닐라 소년

HER ALARM CLOCK continued to repeat the same symphony of shrilling beeps in attempt to lull her out of her dream. remembering the events that had led her to now. how namjoon was finally able to pass on to a better place. how the incarnation of devil was killed and how the town of inewood was finally freed from his grip. how the people of inewood were told that the killer was from another town and had been arrested and could no longer hurt them. how everything had reached some form of normalcy again.

struggling to comprehend that it had been three years since all of that had played out.

unable to retreat back into her slumber, she reached for the clock and finally silenced it with a soft sigh. rubbing the sleep out of her eyes, she remembered that she had slept alone that night. that his place in their bed had been left unoccupied once again, but she knew he couldn't help it.

stretching her numb limbs out, she strolled out of her bedroom and into the corridor. the windows that ornamented the hallway finally allowing the molten gold light to form puddles of light on the oak flooring that still retained its chilling touch from the cold night.

a smile already creeping on her lips as she entered the new pale blue room.

"hi jungminnie~" she cooed as her body ventured further into the room, earning a soft squeal from the 11 month old baby boy that made grabby hands at her. "did you sleep well last night?" asked sookja, even though she knew her son wouldn't have given her an answer in a language she could understand. jungmin simply ornamenting his toothless smile at her, taking that as a yes.

"let's go and see how daddy is doing, huh?" picking up the baby, sookja made her way down the stairs. already knowing the state that the boy would be in, she made sure to pick up some towels and spare clothes. every step she took on the stair case leading down to the basement groaned out as they seemed to ache under any weight. "jungkook? are you up?" she asked softly, making sure that jungmin wouldn't be able to see the man until she knew it was safe.

the light flickered on. struggling at first before it eventually became fully lit; showering unforgiving light onto his clearly exhausted figure that remained chained to the cement walls. only nurturing a guilt inside of her for how he had to continue being tormented like this.

someone had to made the sacrifice even if they had found a loop hole. and that someone was jungkook.

a small groan finally fell from his lips as his body finally started to show signs of life by his tame movements. liberating him from the steel chains, her attention became divided, giving jungmin the opportunity to reach out for his father. whining when he realised that he was too far away to do so. "did you miss daddy, jungminnie?" a raspy voice made her jump slightly, not having thought that he would come around this quickly. the boy finally taking jungmin into his arms once he was decently dressed.
