Your eyes widened.
'Uwaaa... it's Gintoki in the flesh,' you thought.
Looking him up and down, you realise that he was shorter than what the anime made him look like. Maybe it was because you were 1.67 metres tall, or maybe because he was 1.77 metres tall, but he was still kinda short. But then, he was still taller than you.
Your thoughts were interrupted when Crayon Shinchan made noise.
"What's the matter, Kurosaki-san?" he looked at you in curiosity.
"N-nothing, I've just never seen a real samurai who's been through war, that's all."
They looked at you. In surprise. Oh no.
"How did you know that? We didn't tell anyone else," Gintoki questioned.
"I...," you stammered. Oh no, you dug a hole for yourself.
They continued to stare at you, their eyes like daggers stabbing you. You didn't like this kind of peer pressure.
"I... heard rumours. Your story kinda spreads far you know? The Jouishishi? You're like the most famous one! I'm a fan of your courageous spirit! Every night, I dream of meeting you! Now, I'm just dumbfounded that you're standing right in front of me... y-you know?" You tried to sound enthusiastic. You convinced him you, thought at least, for Gintoki is smiling to himself and blushing a little.
"N-no way! I didn't know I was so famous! Hahahah, I'm not that great, no no no, I'm not that cool! I am. I'm very cool. But, no, don't say that, you're making me blush!" He grinned. He's too full of himself, you didn't even call him cool.
"What about me? Am I famous? Am I, eh?" Kagura asked, seemingly excited to hear that one of her friends were famous.
"Yes, you're famous too! I've heard many good things about a cute and young yet mature girl named Kagura!" You complimented. Kagura also grinned. "That's right! I'm mature and cute!" She shouted in happiness.
While the two was still in ecstasy, you whispered into Shinpachi's ear, "Don't worry, I've heard good things from your sister."
And thus, you had set a good foundation for a blooming friendship between the three main characters of Gintama. Along the few months, you treated the trio to parfaits, sukonbu, and glasses. You even brought them to the pachinko parlour, amusement park and Otsu's concert. They were all so happy and satisfied. You felt happy, even though your wallet is going to be empty. But that doesn't matter. You were only interested in Gintoki. The rest didn't matter. All you care about was the main character. The one who's always funny. The one who's always happy. You don't want to feel sad anymore. There's no point, for you've already isekai'd into Gintama. That's already impressive. You don't need more.
During your non-working days, you would hang out with Gintoki. But of course, not all the time. You also had to make good relationships with the side characters too. But most of your time was with Gintoki. Even Sacchan was suspicious of you, but you quickly dispelled that by giving her three photos of Gintoki sleeping. You were kinda heartbroken for those were from your private collection.
But slowly, you started to miss your own world. You missed the small roadside oden shop that tasted like heaven. You missed your anime figurines (Gintoki) but didn't really care as you have the real deal beside you. You missed the chocolate cupcake from your roommate's mother shop. Basically everything.
But still, you have to be happy. Or Gintoki won't like you.
"Why so sad?" You asked yourself one day. Yet you yourself knew the answer. What are you going to do after getting Gintoki? Date? Marry? Have kids? Grow old together? Those seem unlikely. You didn't have the patience for that. Neither do I have the patience to write so much. But that didn't matter, just live in the moment.
