chapter 5

days passed and i barely said a word to anyone. rick kept asking what happened with negan, and every time he asked, i just shook my head.

i hate to admit it, but everything that had happened with negan emotionally traumatized me. i don't want to talk about any of it. though it's going to be impossible, i just want to forget about the whole thing.

since i woke up before carl, i made my way downstairs by myself with my bow on my back. when i reached the bottom of the stairs, i saw michonne walking down the porch steps and rick staring at her. but rick noticed me and quickly tried to start a conversation with me.

"michonne is going hunting, i'm sure she wouldn't mind if you joined her" rick said. i shook my head no and went towards the kitchen. opening up the pantry, i grabbed a granola bar. after opening up the packaging, i started eating it.

"rosita and spencer are going on a supplies run" rick said as i finished eating the granola bar. when throwing the rapper into the trash can, carl appeared at the bottom of the stairs. " i have first watch shift" i said walking towards the door. "let me come with you" rick said following me but i ignored him.

when going down the porch steps, i saw that one of our cars were stopped in front of the gate. rosita, eugene, and spencer stood staring at the opposite side of the gate. when taking a closer look i saw huge trucks parked on the outside of the gate. and in the center stood negan.

rick picked up his pace beside me, so i did the same. with angered looks on both of our faces, we approached the gate together. "well hello there!" negan said greeting rick and i as we approached the gate.

"do not make me have to ask" negan said with an annoyed tone. rick looked over at me letting me make the call. "you said a week, you're early" i said to negan. rick walked over to the gate and opened it.

" i missed you" negan said to me with a smile. rick looked back at me in concern and then faced negan who was standing right in front of him.

a walker appeared between negan's trucks. "oh, rick, come on out here. watch this. calling it!" negan said walking over to the walker with his bat, lucille. negan hit the walker in the middle of its face with lucille and started laughing in amusement. "easy peasy lemon squeezy! alright everybody. lets get started" negan said talking to his men that were lined up behind him.

within all of his men, i spotted dad. my heart broke at the sight of him. drenched in sweat, he wore a dirty sweatsuit that had an 'a' spray painted in the middle of the sweatshirt. "its a big day" negan said as dad made eye contact with me.

"hey rick, you see that, what i just did? that is some service! i mean we almost get turned away at the gate. who is that guy anyway? do i get mad? do i throw a fit? do i bash some ginger's dome in? nope. i just take care of one of these dead pricks that could've killed one of y'all. service." negan said bowing with a smile. "hold this" negan said walking past rick and placing his bat in rick's hand.

walking over to me, negan put his arm around my shoulder. "good to see you again little dixon" negan said with a smile. "screw off" i said looking up at him. he let out his hallow chuckle. "hot diggity dog! this place is magnificent! an embarrassment of riches as they say. yes sir, i do believe you are gonna have plenty to offer up" negan said taking his arm off of my shoulder and looking around at alexandria.

"daryl, hey-" rick said walking over to dad who was protectively standing behind me. i honestly didn't even notice him standing behind me. "no. nope. he's the help. you don't look at him, you don't talk to him, and i don't make little dixon chop anything off of him" negan said cutting rick off. ignoring everything that negan had just said, i turned around and made eye contact with dad. 'i'm okay' i mouthed to him. though i had no clue what they were doing to him, i know saying that would give him some sense of comfort.
