Nini and Ricky are singing Start of Something New from High School Musical while everyone else was doing what they were assigned to do. I'm sitting next to Carlos watching everything happen and taking notes.
"I know. That's something has changed." People carried a latter over their head while they both made a confused look. "Never felt this way. But right here tonight. This could be the start of something new." As much as I hated seeing Nini singing with Ricky I still had to watch. I was thinking on telling Carlos something came up but it was the last day before break and I couldn't do that to them. "This could be the start of something new. It feels so right to be here with you. Oh." I still haven't talked to Ricky since the day I saw him singing to Gina. "And now, looking in your eyes. I feel in my heart. Feel in my heart. The start of something new. Oh, yeah."
Miss Jenn has a big smile on her face watching everything go as plan. "Now, who would've ever thought that. Oh. We'd both be here tonight. Ooh." Ricky look so much happier when he's around Nini. I could never compete with that not when everything around me is crushing down. "Yeah, and the world looks so much brighter. Brighter, brighter. With you by my side. By my side." The school bell rang which meant it was time for Thanksgiving break.
"Yes! Yes! Whoo!" EJ yelled standing up and holding his fist up. Everyone looked at him weirdly. "Sorry, I really love Thanksgiving." I roll my eyes closing my note book and standing up. I grab my bag seeing Travis telling me to go towards him. Me and Travis have been hanging out more ever since me and Ricky stop talking. I also got really close to Nick and Hazel. I thought they both liked each other but they see each other like brother and sister. I make my way towards Travis.
"What's up? I thought we were meeting at my car?" I fix the strap of my bag on my shoulder. "Yeah um, something came up. I don't know how to say this." I look inside while everyone grab their things. "Travis just say it. Don't think about it." My eyes wonder around the room. "There's a chance I might not come back from the holidays." My eyes snap back to him with my mouth falling open. "What?" My eyes started watering at what he just said. "Most of my family is moving to LA and my mom thinks it better over there, you know? Having more and better opportunities."
"Better opportunities? Are you kidding me?" I look around making sure no one was listening. I tried to grab my phone from my back pocket not feeling it knowing I left it at the chair were I was sitting. I made my way towards the chair. "I thought you'd be supportive." I obviously got hurt by that. I grab my phone turning to look at him. "Party as Ashlyn's after Thanksgiving tomorrow!" My eyes still stare at Travis. "I have been so supportive. But how do you want me to feel? My best friend is moving again and who knows when I'll see him again!" I had raised my voice causing everyone to stop cheering. They all look at me and Travis.
"I still don't know calm down." He place his hand on my shoulder. "Yeah, we you sound so sure." I remove his hand from my shoulder hitting his shoulder with mine while I walk away.
It is now Thanksgiving and I'm helping my mom set the table for my grandparents who came to visit. "Honey, why don't you go get ready. I'll finish up." I kiss my mom on the cheek running up stairs to get ready. After an hour I was finished. Make up done, hair done, rings done, bracelets done, shoes done and last dress done. I walk down the stairs hearing the door bell ring. "Granma and grandpa." I kiss them both on the cheek and hug them. "You look beautiful my darling." I smile at my grandma thanking her.
