"You could of told us that you still had the tracker!" Ericka said to Atom as they hopped over a log.
"Well I'M SORRY." he said dryly. The helicopter noises inched closer as they took refuge in a thicket. "They shouldn't be able to see us." Atom whispered loudly to them.
"Keep it down!" Ericka whispered harshly at Atom.
"Sorry!" He squealed. They heard the helicopter touchdown somewhere nearby and the shouting of people. About 50 people with guns swarmed the area. The person who seemed to be in charge was the same man that Ericka saw with the two scientists a few hours ago.
"SEARCH THE AREA!" The man commanded.
"Yes sir!" The men replied, looking around with their guns cocked. One man got a glimpse of Ericka's white hair through the thicket.
"Uh oh." She said almost silently as the man walked over. He saw her moving and pointed the gun at her head,
"DON'T MOVE!" He said loudly, making everybody else look at him, "OR YOU'LL GET A BULLET THROUGH YOUR BRAIN!"
"What do I do?" she asked Atom and Drac, struggling not to move.
"I got this." Drac grumbled, his hands growing claws.
"Wait! don't kill them!" She said, turning her head to look at them. Then the man fired his gun. the bullet missed her, and the attempt made Drac pissed off. He shape shifted into a tiger and jumped out of the thicket and on top of the man. He let out a roar, making the man tremble with fear.
"WHY IS THERE A TIGER IN BLACK FOG FOREST?!" The general yelled.
"But i'm not a tiger." Drac said. All of the men were dumbfounded. Drac transformed into his human form and helped the man up, "Please, i don't want to hurt anyone." He said softly.
"YOU JUST ATTACKED ONE OF MY MEN!" the general said.
"YOU JUST ATTACKED MY WIFE!" Drac snapped in the general's face, then he realized what he just said. All of the men cocked their guns at the thicket. "Wait! put your guns down!" Drac pleaded, stepping in front of the thicket.
"And why should we?" A man asked.
"Because.." He struggled to come up with a sentence, "because if you hold your fire, i'll tell them to come out."
"Them?" The general asked. He motioned to his men to put their guns down. Drac looked at the thicket, and Ericka poked her head out. She made her way out and to Drac's side. Atom came out slowly after her and stood near them.
"So you are the murderers." The general said with displeasure.
"What? No, w-were not the killers." Ericka said, stepping forward.
"Is that so?" The general said.
"Yes," Atom said, "but we know who is."
"I'm intrigued," The general said, "tell me more."
"Well," Atom started, "it's someone who can shape shift, is sly, and feeds off of fear."
"Is that even possible?" The general asked.
"It is if you are the Darkness." Atom said.
"The Darkness?" The general asked, "the Darkness isn't a living thing."
"It is now," Atom said, "ever since I returned."
"Ok," The general said, "so if you know what it is, why haven't you caught it?"
"We've been too busy running from it to do that." Ericka said.
"Why run?" The general asked.
"Because it wants to kill me," Atom said, "and everyone in its way." The general thought for a moment.
"It seems like you don't have an army," He said, "how 'bout I lend you mine."
"Is that a good idea?" A man whispered into the general's ear.
"We'll find out." he general whispered back.
"Are you-" Atom started to talk but was cut off by Drac,
"We appreciate your service." Atom scowled as they shook hands.
"So what's our first move?" Drac asked.
"It depends," The General said, "is there more that one?"
"Not that we're aware of, no" Ericka said.
"Then this should be easy." The general sneered.
"Maybe not that easy." Atom said, but the general ignored him,
"Ok in order to catch 'the Darkness', we need to lure it in with bait."
Ericka thought for a minute, "I have an idea."
A few minutes later she was in Phoenix mode and walking alone in the forest. This is a terrible idea! Atom said to her. "Oh shut up." She said. "I'M ALL ALONE!" She yelled. She heard her voice echo a few times into the distance. She had walked into a small grassy clearing, and a man was positioned and disguised a few feet away armed with a taser net. Something was crawling through the tall grass closer to her. Everybody held their breath as it got closer and closer. Then it leaped out of the grass straight at her. Before it could claw her face off the man shot the taser net at it and it flopped to the ground. "That was easier that I expected." She said, looking at it.
"I told you." The general said, getting out a radio. Drac walked up to her and Atom merged out of her.
"That almost seemed to easy." Drac said. turned out the general was calling transport for the Darkness. It was a large truck. They put the Darkness into a glass container and loaded it into the truck. They all rode to a base of some kind in army cars. When they got there, they instantly felt like something was wrong...
