Chapter 14: Return

As she neared them, Drac's limp body seemed to be getting heavier and heavier. She flapped harder but it had no effect. Eventually it felt like she was carrying a boulder. She saw Posiontail's large figure through the trees and felt relief wash over her. She suddenly lost concentration and her wing beats started to falter. "Look out!" She yelled out to them, and they moved out of the way when she crashed landed. Posiontail and Comet peered through the smoke cloud and saw that she was holding Drac in her arms and sobbing uncontrollably.

"What happened?" Comet asked. She either ignored him or didn't hear him because she just sobbed louder, amd was clutching Drac like a stuffed toy. Then she took notice of them, and slowly stopped crying.

"Where's Atom?" Posiontail asked. She hung her head and sucked in a sharp breath,

"They took him." She whimpered. Comet and Posiontail exchanged glances,

"Then what's wrong with him?" Comet asked, nudging Drac slightly with his nose.

"He was knocked unconscious by them." She said.

"I thought he was dead." Posiontail said dryly.

"Thanks for that positive comment." Ericka said sarcastically, pressing two fingers against Drac's neck. His body suddenly spasmed and he started to cough violently. His mouth gurgled blood and it bubbled out and ran down his cheeks. They started to freak out. "Ok.Ok.Ok. He's having a Grand Mal Seizure." she said.

"what the HELL is that?" Comet asked, not taking his eyes off of Drac.

"I-Its when Someone loses consciousness a-and has violent muscle contractions," She explained, "now help me hold him still." She held his arms still while Comet hesitantly walked over and layed down on his legs. A few minutes passed and the seizure faded away. Ericka carefully wiped the blood out of his mouth and gently tapped him on the cheek. They heard him exhale and pinch his eyes shut. He groaned and tried to sit up. She helped him and he opened his eyes.

"Everything is a painful blur." He said.

"You just had a seizure." She said softly. He seemed to taste the inside of his mouth,

"Is that why my mouth tastes like cherries?" He asked.

"Probably." She said. He looked around,

"Where's Atom?" He asked. She looked down at the ground again,

"T-t-they took him." she started to cry again and he tried to comfort her. When she stopped crying he asked for help getting up. They then hopped onto Posiontail and they flew silently back to the hotel.

"I can't fit inside." Posiontail said, letting them slide off of his back.

"Well, can't you wait outside?" Ericka asked. Posiontail sat down next to the hotel,

"I suppose." He grumbled. They told Comet to stay in the lobby and they headed upstairs. As they passed Nicholas's room, they heard singing. They peeked in and saw Mavis singing 'Twinkle twinkle Little Star' to Nicholas. Once Nicholas was asleep, Mavis saw them peeking through the doorway and got up to talk to them. She stepped out into the hallway and shut the door.

"Oh thank the heavens." Mavis said, hugging her dad tightly.

"Good to see you to?" He said unsurely, hugging her back.

"It took you long enough." Mavis said, taking a step back.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Ericka retorted.

"It means that you could of gotten back faster because he's your child and i can't keep taking care of him." Mavis said, storming down the hallway into her room. They looked at each other, then went into their room.

They got ready for bed and as soon as they were getting comfortable Ericka randomly blurted, 'We need to start spending more time with him."

"And i agree," Drac said, "But we can't just forget about the Darkness or Atom." Ericka looked like she was in deep thought for a while. Then a light bulb lit over her head. She got out of bed and picked a book out of the bookshelf. She flipped through the pages and stopped on one.

"Perfect." She said with a small smile.

Ok, WHAT are you planning?" Drac asked. She sat next to him and showed him the book.

"Taziki, The underground city," He read. He turned and looked at her, "Your not suggesting..."

"It's the only way to keep them safe." She said. He though for a moment.

"Alright, i trust you," He said, "I'll close the hotel."
