Chris's plan for defeating Iida was simple. Too simple. He didn't expect it would work it was that simple. He would have to worry about that later. The match came up sooner than expected, but that doesn't matter in the slightest. He already made the necessary change to the plan. He also made a backup.
Before the battle with Iida started, Chris threw his jacket to his side, revealing his shirt underneath. It was a black shirt with a bunch of skulls on it. Suddenly, when the match started, Iida yelled out and blasted forward.
"Recipro Burst!"
Chris stood still and waited for Iida to get to him. Just before the latter could come into contact with the former, Chris ducked, causing Iida to trip over him, sending him out of bounds.
"Chris is the victor."
It was so anticlimactic. Everyone was waiting for Chris to pull some amazing move, but he just ducked. Chris knew he could easily win but didn't expect it to be that easy. Iida must have obviously been distracted or something. The next match was between Nick and Tokoyami.
Their match was...strange, to say the least.
"Begin."
Tokoyami went in for a direct attack, intent on ending the fight quickly. Before Dark Shadow even touched Nick, it was blinded by a light. Nick had made a flashlight appear from his quirk. The weakness to Dark Shadow was light, seeing as he was a literal shadow. While Dark Shadow was blinded, Nick went to attack Tokoyami himself.
Right when Nick got close enough, Tokoyami countered Nick's attack. Realizing that he would have to try harder, the latter simply shone the flashlight in the Class 1-A student's eyes, blinding them. It was then easier to attack the male, giving Nick the chance to hit him out of bounds.
"Nick is the winner!"
Present Mic was loud once more. He sure is annoying. The final match of the quarterfinals was about to take place. Kirishima versus Bakugo.
"Start!"
Chris blanked out for most of the match, seeing as it would be boring. Kirishima's quirk let him harden his body to the strength of rock. It was essentially a test of endurance. Who would win? A shield or a large number of bombs? In the end, Bakugo was declared the victor because Kirishima couldn't keep up his quirk. another break was taken to give the continuing people a chance to recuperate.
"Hey, Chris."
Jiro walked up to Chris...alone. The latter was confused as to why she would want to be with him rather than her large group of friends.
"Hey. What are you doing here?"
Jiro sat down with a look of...whatever. Chris couldn't tell what it was.
"Aren't we friends?"
Chris felt a...tingling in his...body. Never before, other than with the others, did he think that someone would actually want to be his friend.
"I guess. What I mean to say is why are you here with me rather than with the others?"
That was a tough question to answer for Jiro, and her face showed it. Even she herself didn't know quite why, but she brushed it off.
"I don't know. It could be me wanting to get you to know you better."
That's it, huh? Just as he thought. People only want to know his weaknesses and take him down. Chris would never reveal anything about him unless it was apart of his plan. Never would he let his guard down.
"Yeah. That happens to a lot of people. Nobody really knows anything about me, but they want to know more. I think I should head to the prep room."
