CHAP 9

 "Why me?"

Kyle, who had been suspiciously silent this whole time, cleared his throat.

"I'm trying to understand that now. What would a witch as powerful as her want with a 16 year old from one of the most weak species?" This made my skin crawl. All kinds of theories were tugging at my brain. What does she want with me? How powerful are we talking here?

"But wait, What happened out in the forest? Why are you saying I was in there for hours when it felt like 10 minutes?" It was quiet. Everyone was looking around the room, never meeting each others gaze. No one wanted to tell me, it was obvious. They wanted to keep me safe. They want to try and tell me as little as possible until this mess is sorted out. I won't have it. It involves me and I'm way past reasoning with at this point. Shoving my chair away, I stood. All eyes were on me now. I tried to maintain my disappointment in them but the way they looked at me. As though I was interrupting them. Were they Mind linking each other? When I'm right here?

I shouldn't be this mad about it. I should be used to always being left out. Everyone was staring at me now, waiting for me spit it out. My nails were making crescent shaped indents on my palm. I could feel the pressure of it. Couldn't control it, but definitely could feel it.

"What is it Liz?" Will was concerned. It was clear as day in his voice.

"She's just a child! Leave her out of this!" Crash.

"It's her fault,"

"No, shut up!"

Another fragment of mom and dad's arguments. They always seemed to orientate around me. My own family makes me feel like such a stranger sometimes. It's wrong.

"If you want to talk, do it out loud. Or I'm going all this alone," Sin took slow steps towards me. I almost felt threatened by his lazy lope. Almost.

He was right in front me, the scent of mint and his cologne hitting hard. I would've felt seduced if it wasn't for all my brothers watching carefully. Sin trailed his fingertips over my clenched hand and if my hands could blush, they would be. His touch was light and it relaxed me. I knew what he was trying to do. He thought I was going to go ape shit. Honestly, when my brothers do this to me, I want to.

I was going to tell him I'm fine, until he leaned towards me . I froze, everything froze. The sounds of chairs shuffling closer made me want to look, but I couldn't. His swirling blue eyes were trained on my lips. My lips! Of all the times to want to kiss me, why in front of my dog brothers?!

For so long I've wanted this, craved this moment. My heart was running a marathon and I tried to keep my wide eyes away from his lips. We couldn't do this, not now! C'mon Liz, push him away. He was getting closer, the world seemed to slow down, lights were twinkling around us, hearts were floating over my head. But then he whispered something.

"We're equals. I won't let you do this alone," His cool breath fanned my face. What's that noise? It's the sound of my hazy eyed dream shattering around me. We were so damn close! I should have known he wasn't actually going to kiss me...I tried to fight away the disappointment, the urge to grab him and just kiss him. After being so tantalizingly close to those perfect lips I want the full experience. Dammit, give me my dream girl kiss!

Wiping off the dazed expression, I smiled weakly.

"Thanks, Sin," He hadn't backed away and those heart stopping eyes were still watching me. His soft breathing was teasing my lips. If I just leaned in a little closer we could...
