Y/n sat on the floor of the bullhead, legs crossed, with his hands resting in his kimono sleeves. His weapon was stowed against his arm. He listened to the passing conversations, causing his ears to twitch slightly. He had drifted in and out of sleep, hindered by his inability to rest. His mind buzzed with excitement and relief, knowing he was free from the insults and condescension thrown his way. The young teenager cracked open his left eye, surveying his surroundings. He noted that there were more humans than Faunus, a result he had expected. Y/n was aware that this was due to the fear and hostility humans often harbored towards Faunus. They were deemed different, often exploited for labor or suppressed during protests. While Y/n seemed indifferent on the surface, the truth was he did care. He wished for an end to the conflict and a chance for unity. In a moment of self-amusement, he chuckled.
Y/n: As if that would ever happen. (He closes his eyes.) If you don't want to lose your eyesight, then cease staring.
Y/n fully opened his eyes only to find a vivacious personality before him. The (hair color) teen blushed slightly and looked up. A girl with bright yellow hair and a distinctive cowlick met his gaze. Her eyes were a shade of lilac that complemented her blond hair and fair skin. She donned a brown jacket over a yellow shirt, black shorts, and a belt. Golden gauntlets adorned her wrists, along with black fingerless gloves. As his gaze shifted lower, he noticed that one leg sported a thigh-high sock while the other didn't. An accompanying bandanna was tied around her leg. Lastly, his gaze reached her heeled boots.
Yellow: Like what you see?
Y/n's perspective:
It was evident that the girl was attempting to flirt with me, but to be honest, I wasn't interested. I let out a sigh before addressing her, looking directly into her eyes.
Y/n: No.
The blond promptly faceplanted onto the floor, with one leg comically suspended in the air. She quickly rebounded, rubbing the back of her head with a faint smile. I wasn't sure what her intentions were, but it seemed she was persistent in getting to know me. I sighed once more; she wasn't going to give up, so I might as well say something.
Y/n: Can I help you? I'm not particularly fond of being stared at.
Yellow: I apologize. I couldn't help but notice you seem to be alone and could use a friend.
Y/n: Who said I needed a friend?
Yellow: I'm Yang. Pleasure to meet you, cutie.
This girl completely ignored my lack of interest and continued her pursuit. I rolled my eyes and closed them for a moment. Eventually, she took a seat next to me, and I could feel her fingers playing with my ears. I opened my eyes and saw Yang petting them. I sat there quietly, allowing her to carry on. Some time passed, and I finally reached my limit. I grabbed Yang's arm, moving it away.
Y/n: Don't you have someone else to bother?
Yang: Nope. I was just with my sister.
I pinched the bridge of my nose, letting out a prolonged sigh. Fantastic, there's more of them. I then stopped and looked across the room, spotting a girl dressed in black and white. The scent about her hinted at her being a Faunus. My gaze landed on the bow atop her head, which I presumed was an attempt to conceal her identity. I understood why some Faunus did it, but I couldn't help but think it was pointless. In the end, when others discovered the truth, one's true nature couldn't remain hidden.
Yang: Soooo, what's the story behind the katana?
Y/n: ... It was my father's.
Yang: Oh, a hand-me-down, huh? He must be proud you got into Beacon.
Y/n: (glances at Yang, then looks away)
I fell silent after Yang mentioned my father. Memories of my parents' death flooded back – how they had fallen to the White Fang. I despised them to this day, especially as I could still visualize my mother's desperate attempts to shield me. To be honest, I felt guilt; if I hadn't been a product of my parents' love, they would still be alive. I can't remember their faces, but I can recall that my father's eyes were a bright gold while his hair was a radiant (hair color). My mother, on the other hand, possessed clear (eye color) eyes and hair as white as freshly fallen snow. I was pulled from my reverie as the bullhead docked. With Tensaiga in hand, I left. Before I did, I looked back at Yang.
Y/n: I suppose I'll see you around or something. (Exits)
As I disembarked the bullhead, my eyes widened in amazement. The scenery was reminiscent of a fairy tale castle – it was breathtaking. The place was expansive, reminiscent of back home. I walked through the campus, feeling the weight of eyes on me. It was a familiar feeling, much like back home.
Y/n: I suppose no matter where I go, the stares come along.
I continued walking, paying no heed to the gazes. Keeping to myself, I explored the campus, even glancing down at the expansive drop below. Gazing back up, I found myself met by the presence of someone else, a man in green with silver hair and a peculiar aura.
Green: Quite the sight, isn't it?
Y/N: Indeed.
I glanced to my right and found the man in green. He wore black glasses and a green scarf. His hair shimmered silver. He smiled at me, and I struggled to decipher his motives. He seemed rather enigmatic, much like the unique aroma he carried. I looked back at the vista before me.
Y/n: Yes, it is. So, is there something I can assist you with, Professor Ozpin?
Ozpin: Ah, so you're familiar with who I am.
Y/n: Why wouldn't I be? You're the headmaster, the one who recommended me to come here.
Ozpin: Indeed. (Smiles) You remind me a lot of your father.
At that moment, I fell silent and regarded the older man closely. How did he have knowledge of my father? Very few people were acquainted with him. However, this man seemed to know my father, and I couldn't resist asking.
Y/n: How did you know my father?
Ozpin: He was a friend of mine.
My father and Ozpin were friends. This revelation left me perplexed. Certain aspects didn't add up. How did this man know my father? What kind of connection did they share? Doubts arose as I pondered further. I couldn't shake the feeling that Ozpin held back information, a hidden truth perhaps. It seemed he was driven by a desire to protect me from something, though the specifics eluded me.
Ozpin: I trust you'll make the most of your time here, Y/n. Strive to do your best.
Y/n: But who exactly are you, Headmaster?
(a/n: and scene i hope you enjoyed this chapter until next time)
